Sb bar vs reefbrite for 16" above water

I like them a lot. They don’t add much shimmer but do add a lot of color pop.

Thanks for the quick reply. I'm about to pick up a sbar second hand. Good to know about the shimmer.

I'm mostly looking to increase my par and pop anyways.

Just make sure to look at the shield over the LEDs as they get burnt from the UV. Not a big deal as you can just remove the shield.

Just picked then up and there is zero burn. Thank you for the advice.

Following up. Just wanted to say I'm blown away by the performance of the blue sBar. I got the 32 inch version on my 90g AIO. I mounted it inside my canopy, only about 3 inches off the water.

I could raise it up more to get better spread but I will say that the pop on this thing is crazy. It really makes the greens glow, even when my T5s are on. The power is very impressive.

I run the reef bar with my ATI 8 bulb 17.5" off the water on my frag tank. I don't actually know the par numbers but it lights up the corals well on a 2 foot wide tank. The side the reef bar isn't on is a little darker though.

@bubbaque do you have a pic of how you mounted this to you ATI? I've got one reefbrite strip but thought about adding an SBAR to the other side of the fixture. Just wasn't sure if the mounts that come with will required me to drill into the ATI fixture or if you use the same mounting points that the reefbrites use

It's the same mounting as the reefbrites. You take out the one screw on the fixture and it goes directly into sb reef bars.

Reef brites suck. So does any bar that is 100% Royal Blue only. If you want something that makes a difference, make sure it has a broad range of UV/Blue, not just 450nm... That brings nothing to the table.
