Hi All,

well, tax season was very kind to us this time around and the wife agreed to pull the trigger on an SC 120G 48 x 24 x 24 :) with that said:

Anyone have any thoughts on SB reef lights?
are there any corals that you struggle to keep under these?

I have been using mine for about a year and a half now. I think they are fantastic lights. Corals keep great colors and grow quickly. Take a glance at my build thread if you want to see what the lights can do over time. Mike is a good guy as well. I was in his shop yesterday and a guy called in who dropped his light in the tank. That is not covered by warranty but he told the guy to send him his light and he will fix it for him for the cost of shipping. Thats pretty solid.

Ok seriously considering these lights over paying an arm and a leg for 2 radion G4 pros. I have a 48"L x 26"deep x 24" width mixed but would like to go with more SPS. I would assume it would be better to go with 2 of the 16" SBOX extreme rather than 1 of the 32". What do you think?

I have one of the sprites over my 20 and my corals love it! Like Ryan, I got the go ahead too lol for a 120. I honestly think I'm going to go with the single 32" light. Less cords and timers, less money.

edit: I just checked the basic is only 130 but still I hate having so many cords and a built in moon light is nice.

Forgot to mention I have an older tank with a 15" glass cross brace. So 2 of the 16s make a lot more sense.

Is there a simple way to connect the two 16s together for the tank mount? It looks like I can just find some rods the same size to join the two lights on one mount...

I have seen that done and it looks good. I just have mine resting on a wooden canopy I built. Not sure fancy but not the worst look ever.

Love the light.
SBreeflight cult members. Me too. Stuff just grows under it. I have ai sols on my 55 and a SB on my 30.

for a 48in wide tank 2 16;s are better as the spraed more and actually light" Past the brace" as the light comes in from the sides.

At full power @12in your giving in the neighborhood of 1500 PAR. I pulled half the lenses to get more spread and less disco. And am still in the 45000 lux/750 par range at the top of the tank at 80%.

they make multi headed power cords. Or diy them.

IMO yes, the best best coverage would be 4 units of course.
well the aquascape I have in my head (and have had for a long time) is similar to below. having the gap in the middle to try and capture the depth feel.
thinking the 2, 16" would work out real well if this is the case.
