SC Aquariums 50 gallon PNP

lol i had one for a bit, i ended up taking it to my lfs and the owner was barely appreciative lol. he ended up putting it in a small holding tank with a regal angel, i think with nefarious intent

Dangit it guys. Lol. Cherry corals said it wasn't that bad. Just to give it six inches around it. I'm just going to flush that dang thing down the crapper! Haha.

idk, maybe just put it in the back corner or something. i also don't know how powerful dem sweepers were as i never put anything near it, but yeah.. they are LONG

I don't know anybody who has done it personally, but I've read a few different posts where some people have cut the sweeps off w/ scissors? The back corner placement, they should dance along the glass. Don't forget your 9 month new house/bigger tank future plan. Now you've got animals in a glass cage more expensive than your dog or Hemmdogs new suit and shoes combined to worry about moving. The new hawk took over the puffers photo bomb duty. Looking good.

Cool, I'll look into the cutting the sweepers thing to see if it's worth a shot. And man oh man don't remind me. That's going to be a fun few days for sure!

Few updated pics. Everything is looking so sweet.

Dang, Phil! I was gone for a week long tournament, and you picked up half the ocean! Tank is looking great!

Haha Thanks! I'm hoping that now that my tank is getting full that I won't be able to spend any more crazy amount of money on coral. That's probably just wishful thinking though .

Decided to move up my water change day to Thursday because who can wait until Friday to do water changes! I love me some water changes. Salt is mixing as we speak. All tests came out good. Alk has been rock steady at 8.9, calcium tested a tad low but I dropped a tiny amount of powder so ehh close enough. As long as it's 350 to 450 I am calling it good.

Will test Mag tomorrow. I also need to order some calibration fluid or whatever for my Hanna PH meter. I think I am out.

Pictures of our kitties just for fun.

A slice of damsel for each! Better than friskies if they still make that stuff. Showing my age, but the little triangle cat treats were a hit in 1990. Tank is looking nice Phil. You can purchase a coral if you keep your hands out of the water for 2 weeks and just enjoy it with your eyes.

I'm getting like 7 more corals Friday lol. Also going to trade a bit of sunny D's and pulsing Xenia for a brown (finger) leather coral. After that then maybe...just maybe I can keep my hands out of the tank. Besides water changes of course.

A pic of that hammer I picked up from that live sale from UC. Sorry it's so bad, just off my phone. White w/ hints of purple & green. Thing is huge for my little tank, like 5" X 3". If a ruler was in the pic I'd a probably passed, oh well. It's mine now.

Still looks really nice! But yeah that's pretty big. Frag it? Lol.

It's a wall hammer with a 3 inch deep skeleton. I've been feeding it about every 3 days. A 3lb maul and a chisel maybe. It should be ready for your new tank next year. The rainbow acan frag I got is meaty thick also. Never have gotten frags like this before.

uniquecorals is awesome, i got a bunch of stuff from them at RAP CA last year. they definitely aren't budget level, but when I offered to buy several things, the price was nice and the frags were huge. i keep meaning to make the drive to their actual warehouse, but driving to LA sucks

I plan to try to frag this one day. Going to need a band saw. Will wait until the heads split more.

Mmmm. All look like candy! I see double rainbow acans and I'm sober tonight. Nice score. Cherry is a good source and a 5 hour ride for me one way. That little acan frag on the right in my pic is the cherry corals rising sun. I got it through ARC, a reef creation in Buffalo NY. I'm glad you've taken a like to acans from your opinion 3 weeks or so ago. They are fun. In your searches or travels, jump on any that are yellow, rare color but morph to blue or green sometimes. Acans like a reefroid paste injection a couple times a week for inflation and new heads. Not high flow though, the skeleton is sharp and they won't inflate to the max bouncing on it. A good eye attractant to the low flow spots down low in the tank.

One of those acans is burning ember and the other is a sweet rainbow. BIG difference! Lol that's about as fancy as I get on the acans. Anything above $50 is too expensive. They are pretty neat now. Fun little guys to feed. I feed them reef roids one time a week and mysis one time a week also. The mysis is a little big but the current acan I have gobbles it down just the same.
