school me on tunze pumps

Cleaning them is certainly more difficult. I've started to just fill a bucket, remove the pump, and take a bristle brush and scrub it right there next to the tank and place it back in. Definitely not one you can disconnect and go, not at least without taking the controller with you.

But then again, I've started to do the same with all of the pumps since cleaning them is the most annoying part of the hobby. Seems to make it less painful to scrub and place back immediately.

I love Tunze and have used their products for years. The only dealbreaker for me in the wave makers (and they don’t tell you this anywhere nor do vendors) that the controller is hardwired to the pump, making them a real pain to practically remove and clean in the sink.

this is great info. I had no idea!
thanks so much!

They are beyond easy to take to the sink and clean. The controller pops right out of their included mount. I would like to see them change this though and add a disconnect at the controller.

I'm pretty sure I read there was a new controller in the works but COVID has really slowed it down.

I'm simple though. I set my pumps on a speed and leave them there. I don't need all the ups and downs and back and forth.

Can someone with a 6125 answer this. Does the PH cable just go straight to a plug in? Or does it have a PSU. Just thinking about the practicality of removing to clean the 6125 vs the 6105… also, see a lot of bad reviews on BRS for the 6125 compared to the 6105, which is strange, I think there very similar, just one is AC and one is DC right?

My original 3 Tunzes lasted over 12 years and I bought one used. I now have newer ones and do not like its programming as much as the old plug and program. My 6205 will not accept the Apex programming without jamming up. I cannot be bothered to figure out exactly why, so just run it off its controller.
I also have 2 of the Stream 3s. They are nice too, but are a bit weird to get the correct direction in the tank.

From the research I’ve done, looks like the 6125 is just straight plug, no Power Supply or controller. Anyone have any experience with this pump?

Is it good?
Is it easy to clean?
Has it lasted a long time?
