!!! Great strategy! I really don’t get people that feed massive portions like 1 time every 2 weeks, to me that’s like saying oh yeah I only eat dinner everyday but I make it really big. Plus it puts a lot of strain on the digestion and excretory processes that stress the coral, IMO, smaller meals more often is the way to go!I'd feed it once a week if not more. I feel like smaller portions spread out are easier for coral to handle and less stressful. I try to feel my corals less more often
So as in like a pinch of lps pellets?I'd feed it once a week if not more. I feel like smaller portions spread out are easier for coral to handle and less stressful. I try to feel my corals less more often
Absolutely it helps. I routinely buy scolys with tissue recession because they’re cheaper. I don’t like pellets because I feel they’re more of a choking hazard, but mysis shrimp or any frozen fish food will work fineThere’s a slight amount of recession from shipping, do you find feeding helps heal that?
Ok great thanks, I’ll go with the frozen then and see how it gets onAbsolutely it helps. I routinely buy scolys with tissue recession because they’re cheaper. I don’t like pellets because I feel they’re more of a choking hazard, but mysis shrimp or any frozen fish food will work fine
That and I mix reef roids super thick turn the pumps off and slowly feed it to the corals with a pipette.Ok great thanks, I’ll go with the frozen then and see how it gets on
I wouldn’t suggest feeding a normal size scoly with reefroids, it seems to stress them because they taste food but they can’t actually grab it. Button scolys may be a good target for reefroids but full size scolys don’t respond too well IMEThat and I mix reef roids super thick turn the pumps off and slowly feed it to the corals with a pipette.
How about gold pods? It does seem quite hungry (tentacles come out when feeding fish or cleaning tank etc) would a small amount daily be ok?I wouldn’t suggest feeding a normal size scoly with reefroids, it seems to stress them because they taste food but they can’t actually grab it. If you mix it thick it clumps up into a slurry. If pumps are on it blows away but all of my LPS corals love it. You have to mix it super thick with very little water. Not sure what gold pods are. They seem to prefer meaty, chunky food that they can bring to their mouths with their tentaclesHow about gold pods? It does seem quite hungry (tentacles come out when feeding fish or cleaning tank etc) would a small amount daily be ok?
They’re basically copepods in a bottle, other lps love them! Not sure what gold pods are. They seem to prefer meaty, chunky food that they can bring to their mouths with their tentacles
I love that elegance! Interesting placement as well, most people stick them on the bottom of the tank but I really love the weeping willow effect! The scoly actually looks really good, I don’t see too much tissue damage and with feedings it should fully recover within a month or two. Have fun with it and good luck! Looks like youre doing a really good job!I got up early this morning and gave it a small amount of mysis, I’m going to start doing this daily to help it recover. Any other advice on these guys?
Thanks! Many people comment on that coral but believe it or not it’s a Duncan! Just hard to see from far away. It’s in quite high flow and the tentacles have got very long and it seems to love it!I love that elegance! Wow! I initially assumed it was a Duncan but the super long tentacles made me think twice! It looks awesome! Are you using really high flow to get it to look like that? I think my clowns are a little bit unhappy with their current stubby homeThanks! Many people comment on that coral but believe it or not it’s a Duncan! Just hard to see from far away. Yeah the scolly isn’t too bad it’s just at the edges when it’s not puffed up I see some bits of skeleton. Hopefully it will recover!
