It just seems to be one thing after another. Two weeks ago I had a power outage that killed 4 fish. Today I noticed a slow drip from the top corner frame on the 265. When I looked closer I saw the following on the front pane of glass (left and right side).

LFS has a new 265 coming on Friday. This weekend we are doing the swap. Wish me luck. Especially for it to hold that long.

I'd be going to tractor supply to get a 300 gallon rubbermaid water trough to move everything into before the new tank comes on Friday. That's a real nightmare of a disaster just waiting to happen!

Hopefully it holds and the swap goes well for you. I'd be working on getting everything together for a emergency better to be prepared than scrambling during a blow out.

I am getting a 300 gallon tub from a local fish store tomorrow at some point and will start transferring out all of the rock and livestock. New tank will be here Friday and swapped out most likely on Friday night or over the weekend sometime. 300lbs of rock was not fun to put in, I am guessing it wont be fun coming out either.

On the bright side I can finally change my substrate out to sand like I wanted.

Last picture of it all nice before I tear into it.

Everything in it's temporary home.

After the tank was empty I looked at the seam again. I'm pointing at a piece of tape that marked the edge of the separation this morning. You can now see that is just a couple of inches from the bottom now. I'm am 100% certain that this would've blown at some point in the next day or two.

Everyone seems to be doing fine in their temporary home. I've got two Neptune wavs set at about 80% providing most of the water movement. There's an extra 1300gph koralia in there too

New tank is coming Friday night. I'm also getting a vectra L1 at the same time to replace my two return pumps I'm using now. So Friday night will be plumbing and setting up the new tank. Saturday night will be the big move back.

Here's where I stand. The old tank is all taken apart and ready to be swapped out for the new tank tomorrow night. I've added 40 gallons of new salt water to the tub and am making another 40 gallons in the brute to make up for what was lost with the tear down.

I am trying to sell the old tank on a couple of Facebook fish groups here in Nebraska with the disclaimer that it will most likely need to be rebuilt or resealed. I am asking $400 for it. Am I being unreasonable? I just spent $2k on a new tank the same size. Even with needing some work I think $400 is a good deal. Someone could use it as a reptile tank or even salvage the glass for a plywood build.

Wow this is every reefers worst nightmare a leaking tank hope everything transitions well

I think it's possible to get 400 for the tank as is but it will probably take awhile. Keep in mind you're selling someone a project, an annoying one at that. I don't know if it's feasible for you, but throwing in delivery (within reason) will probably help you move it a lot quicker.

Good idea on the delivery.

I'd end up pulling it all apart and rebuilding it, then I would have two giant tanks to drain my bank account! Good luck to you, glad you managed to avoid a major catastrophe! That new $2000 tank is cheap compared to what a couple hundred gallons of corrosive saltwater can do to your home!

Wow...I'm so glad for you that you noticed that seam before you noticed 300 gallons of water on the floor. Good luck this weekend.
