*gallon* Alright y'all I'm about to order my tang offline but before I'm getting all my qt supplies ready so anything I'm missing?
1 aquaon otb filter
Air bubbler, air line
PVC for some hiding
And I'm thinking about a UV sterilizer I've read these are beneficial on a qt tank, do any of y'all run them on yalls tho?

Would a 10 gallon be big enough for a tomini tang? If so that saves me a little on the filter but if not a filter is only 25 dollars

I would go with the twenty gallon. Also make sure you have a seeded sponge. You also need a heater.

Heater slipped my mind in the list for some reason, but seeded sponge I will have to do some reading on. I've read about putting some of my LR from my refugium in the qt before I start dosing. Will this work or do I need to soak the filter bag for a few days?

I don't run uv and a 10 would be fine for qt. I switch between a 10g and 20g.
Thanks for that less equipment to buy I've read to do more frequent water changes, like twice a week for the qt. How do you do it?

I will notch that down as something to pick up aswell I planned on testing twice a week along with I guess a twice a week water change? Does that sound right or is that a little overkill?

If uncycled I test daily (when no alert badge). About right but also depends on meds used, I prep for water changes daily when not dealing with a cycled qt.

I'm thinking of dosing copper and prazipro along with the rest of the starting off chemicals, is there something else I need to add to my dosing regimen besides just copper and prazipro?

I will end up cycling it probly going to get it set up this weekend and end up ordering the fish next week sometime, if it doesn't cycle before I will be sure and keep a eye. Im going to go buy some alert badges for it, that's a great idea I didn't think of

Hmmm I'm not sure about the rock thing. The only problem I can see is that you would have to remove the rock before you add any meds. If you do add meds with rock in qt make sure to not put it back in your DT because it can leach any meds that were put in the qt. The seeded sponge is nice because it's simple and you can leave it in the qt when adding meds. It gives the beneficial bacteria a place to hang out in.

You could take water from your DT and put it in the qt and it should help it cycle quickly if there is any cycle at all. When I had my tang in qt I did every other day water changes. I didn't use a badge or test water and was fine. Not saying you should do that but water changes should keep everything in check.

"seeding the sponge" how do I do this? Can I take the filter bag that come with a otb filter and soak it in my refugium? Or....

Yes just take the filter and set it in your refugium or behind a rock in your DT. It would be good to let it sit there for a couple weeks to get it seeded nicely. Does the filter have carbon in it?

I will look when I pick it up, I think last time I bought a otb filter it came with a carbon insert I planned on pulling. I will have to do some reading on if the filter bag has carbon in it or not

If it does It should be easy to take out. Otherwise if you leave it in, it will suck the meds out of your qt.
