Sfin's Dream.

You will need to get the plastic off for sure. Ice in a zip lock bag, q tips to work at it, nail clippers to try and split the plastic. Just try to be gentle.

DO NOT PUT SAND IN THE HOSPITAL TANK!!!!!

pipe cap is ok. Not cups or glasses either. Just don’t place the nem directly in pipe cap. Put it near it, so if it wanders it will find it. Small job and heater is all ya need for the tank. Heater needs to be placed in a make shift egg crate cage or under/behind the hob waterfall/return. I have had good luck with nems not getting close when the heater is placed in that area.

I cannot find the pics of the before of an LTA that went down an overflow and then got hung up in a mj1200 feeding a reactor in my sump. I do have one from yesterday and that was 2 years ago it did that.

I would turn the PH off and let the anemone u tangle himself. LTA are good. Do t cause more damage by trying to remove the anemone
The guard is already cut loose from the housing. I had this happen before and the nem started growing over the pieces of plastic, as I cut the guard up without thinking. So far the few nems I have rescued or treated in this situation, gently removing the guard if possible has shown the best results. Especially if the guard is cutting into the nem. It trying to get out has caused a few to rip themselves more. My experiences though.

You just have to be very very careful and clip the guard slats away and not clip the nem, pull the nem any or push the slats into the nem more.

@sfin52 If you have no way to cut the slats and get the guard away piece by piece or do not feel comfortable avoiding the 3 things mentioned above , @OrionN advice with leaving it is the best option. I have found toe nail clippers to be the best for taking a little bit of the guard away at a time. (Again, all my opinion as @OrionN and myself do not always see eye to eye. That is a good thing though, as I respect him highly and if we all agreed, nothing new or helpful would ever come about lol)

No qt ready last 10g was used for a Tarantulas home. I put in a plastic container bunch of holes. Will check on it in the morning. Completely removed from guard. Final inspection not sure its that bad. We will see. I was able to do this a little at a time. Did not cut the nem. I dont think it would have gotten out with out intervention.

Hoping for the best. LTAs are tough also, so it should be fine.

Also, if there is not a rip or anything on the foot, it can go back in the sand.

And another also (lol), I have found that LTAs are like rfas and if you take a short piece of pvc and cap the end, it can help them stay put. Especially if you don’t have a super deep sand bed.

Foot looks good. Swollen but good. I'll leave in container till I get end cap

4 inches across maybe
4” LTA should be 1.5-2” cap. I would say 1.5” cap and 2” of pipe. Get a 1.5” coupler and then a thin plastic block off cap. The ones that push in just to temporarily keep stuff from falling into a pipe. You would them superglue that to the coupler. That should be plenty deep for the nem. If it takes to the pipe trick, when it gets to about 6-7” inches it may walk and you will need to step up to 2”.

Another option is a 3” cap glued to a 4” piece of 3” pipe and fill with sand most of the way (leave about 2” at the top), place nem in it, then put sand around the foot. As the nem grows, it will push sand out to make room.

Forgot, sometimes couplers are cheaper then pipe, as most pipe is in 10’ or 2’ lengths. They can be used also and do not require sanding.

Always sand the pvc to a rounded edge. Caps normally do not need to be sanded, as they are rounded where they go onto the pipe.
