A 10 foot long tank is plenty big enough for a bamboo shark. They’re mostly benthic and rarely swim around unless they’re looking for food

3’ wide tank for a shark that is almost 3’ long? It’s a beautiful tank and setup, unfortunately not for that animal.

Yeah honestly it doesn't look happy the last 3 seconds when it sinks to the bottom looks bad.

I had fed him just prior to making this vid.

Him and the hidden baby shark spend 20 hours a day lying on their belly lol.

Maybe 4 hours actually swimming around.

The minimum rank size is 180 gallons, although I'd say 270 gallons should be the true minimum.

562 gallons like this set up is considered pretty good for this particular shark species.

Beautiful shark. I do have a question... I thought most benthic creatures needed a bigger footprint for their needs meaning the bottom area space, not height. In this case 562g is huge but a lot of that is wasted space for benthic creatures because they don't use the upper water column so in fact it's not 562g of space that they have access to. In this case wouldn't they need the footprint of at least 1000g to give them 562g of usable space? I'm genuinely curious because maybe I've been given incorrect info about benthic creatures (I've been keeping bottom dwellers since my freshwater days).

My understanding is that a bamboo shark needs a minimum 7 feet by 2.5 feet

Though some stand by 6 feet by 2.5 feet

10x3 feet is 30 feet of space.

While they dont use the upper space the way a typical shark would. I still see the baby and teenager bamboo swimming up from time to time.

While it's not needed perse. Still is nice to have.

The large shark in the video was at the pet store for the past few months in a 7x2.5 foot tank that was 18 inches tall.

Now hes in a 10x3 foot tank that is 30 inches tall.

I tried to mimic his previous smaller home with this larger build.

As I knew I was purchasing him.

So while opinions will vary..At a minimum I've given him a larger home than what he had prior by a considerable amount

Even @vetteguy53081 told him 6’-8’ x 2-1/2’. This tank is 10’ x 3’. There are prisoners with less square footage.

Or even a 120” diameter round tank, but he’s working with what he’s got and I think what he has is adequate.
