Shell no snail ?

If you have clown fish then thats all they need is leftover clown food. Its their job to clean up the clown food. Clowns are usually clumsy eaters and sometimes like to spit out a pellet and grab another for whatever reason symmetry? Who knows... so the crabs should eat that as should a shrimp. The Nassarius would eat anything missed as well. The trochus would clean the dusting of diatoms on your glass or rocks. Usually diatoms are not a permanent thing and go away but the trochus will eat whatever comes after it as well. It will also move from your rocks to glass looking for the easiest meal.
I’ve seen them do that when feeding they literally always do it aha i just thought I had really picky fish

Personally ...
I’d grab a couple of the snails mentioned above. But knowing food is a little scarce being a newer system I wouldn’t buy too much right now .

the ugly stage is coming and can be discouraging ......

While we are on the topic of shells do you know why they arent going in the shells I have put in for them ?
They hafta be just right for them to switch into a new shell. Like not too big, not too small but just right lol. Mine are picky about theirs but I try to guesstimate how big of a shell they have and will want to upgrade to and try to scavenge when I can at my LFS. Sadly those snails of urs can not flip back up if they fall on their side so they are easy prey for shrimp and crabs =(. But sounds like u might need to feed them a bit more. They sell special pellets just for hermits that I like to treat them to once in a while called Crab Cuisine. Nassarius will have a much better shot bc they can right themselves and they burrow under sandbed for most of the day. Good luck!
