As some of you may know I recently lost all of my acan collection to BJD, after that I was really tempted to just give up on the hobby but with the encouragement of the community and my girlfriend I have decided to start a new tank. So as things stand now the tank is an Aqueon 40b that I got at the $1/gallon sale, Its the largest I am allowed to have where I am moving so it will just have to do :P The rock is going to be 40-50lbs of the BRS reef saver dry rock and the sand is 40lbs of carib Sea Aragonite sand (1mm-2mm grain size). The lighting is two kessils A160 controlled by the Kessil spectral controller...that is about as far as I have gotten in planning. I still need to figure out flow, ATO and if I am doing a sump or not. I will post pictures as I take them.

Yea, I have always wanted to do a 40. I love how you get nice depth and width for rockwork

Love my 40B/20L sump. Goooo sump! You really don't want a bunch of stuff hanging out in or on your DT.
So far that is the plan, I just have to price out how much it would cost for a sump.

Get another tank on the petco sale that's where we got our 29 gallon my son n I turned into a sump for our 40b rimless. Agree you will get sick of bunch of stuff hanging in and out of dt.We got glass at Lowe's cut to size for baffles n silicone that ran about 15 bucks or so. Total we have with a hang on sock holder about 55-60 bucks into sump.

So on my other tanks I have been using the Hydor Smart Level ATO and had one that I was going to use on this tank but I won a Puratek ATO (thanks R2R and @Puratek ) so I will be using that one instead, I'll post pictures and a little review once I get it.

The maxspect how do you know which size for the aquarium
For the gyre they have suggested sizes, I think the XF130 is for tanks 25-100 gallons, anything larger than that you would want the 150.

Time to start looking into the gyre!
When I got mine I tested it on my friends 55g tank....it moves water like I have never seen! it was awesome, you really should look into it.

I have to wait until I move lol it is driving my crazy!!!!!!! I like they gyre because it provides enough flow to be the only powerhead in your tank, most other brands you would need 2+.
