Yep the gyre 130 is awesome in a 40b very happy with ours. Can't wait to see the stand pics. Good idea getting everything before you move always need more stuff to lug when moving haha but seriously you'll be setup up before rest of house is unpacked lol. Gotta love that :D.

Lol I told my girlfriend that the second we move in I am filling the tank with water....she just gave me a look and sighed

I'm lucky the wife doesn't touch the tank but loves it and hitting stores n swaps. She was upset I didn't get a 125 gallon tank couple weeks ago when I had a chance to for 75 dollars. I passed not wanting her and the older kids mad I'm always spending money on the hobby. Had to promise to jump next time I find a deal like that or I'm going to be in real trouble she said lol. She's one who pushed me to get back into the hobby now my cancer is more stable again n study chemo has less away from home time as previous treatment did.

You are a lucky man! Also hope you kick your cancers butt! I know how ****** chemo and its side effects can be, stay strong!

I'm guessing you guys are splitting the acan from Will that didn't make it to tonight's sale. Definitely a awesome piece. If you did I'll be watching for pics as it grows lol.

I didn't get it lol I really want to but rather wait until the tank is up instead of keeping the corals somewhere else

So I have run in to a small set back, my apartment allows a max tank size of 40g, I thought that this just meant that 40g was the largest tank I could have but after talking with the mgmt about somethings the tank came up and I can only have 40g of total water volume (I pointed out with the rock and sand in the tank it would have less than 40g but they just looked at me). They say its due to safety concerns about the weight and supporting it, so as a result I will not be doing a sump for this tank. I hope this will not be too much of a problem and with my planned bio-load being small (gold assessor, 2 clowns and a royal gramma) I think I will be ok. Side note, what is the opinion on UAS? Saw the ones from santa-monica and want to do a little research.

Would they be open to a remote sump? Like place the sump X amount of feet away from the tank to distribute the weight load?

I thought of that but the apartment is pretty small and I just do not think there would be room for it. So are HoB skimmers worth it?

Could be worse. I do HOB on a 41 Fluval, and I don't find it to be that much of an eyesore.

Just keep what's inside the tank looking bright and colorful. That'll attract the eyes more than anything.

Can't wait to see what you do with it!

Haha, you only say that because the low resolution wont let you detect all the aiptasia and bubble algae I'm hoarding in there ;) But thank you.

How are you planning to do an ATO with HOB? If you come up with a good design I may have to borrow it. I'm getting tired of carrying 5 gallon jugs up stairs every day.

I am going to have a HoB refugium that is about 3g and the ATO output line will feed into it so the water can mix before going to the tank. You can also feed the ATO water into an area of high flow (in front of a powerhead or skimmer return) so that it can mix with the saltwater quickly.
