Shmoopy's Build

Wow thanks for all the positive feedback! Yes to all, ill try to answer and help all i can. Rev, where is the best forum to do a aquascape walkthrough?

Cary good question, As far as Humidity goes i have a +Positive pressure fan controlled with a potentiommeter that creates -Negative pressure in the cabinet that keeps condensation from forming. I may add a thermostat that will kick the fan on and off, so far i havent needed a cooling fan with the open top but we have to wait until next summer to be sure.

The electronics are protected by acrylic that slides in and out. So far its working great but i can see heat becoming and issue once i have a heavy bio load on the aquarium (everything running at max or maxish..) i may vent another fan or just move the one i have to cool. Its a WIP

John, yes im in Lubbock so msg me if youd like to come give me pointers! I was in DFW for along time in the DFW club.

Docbannister i'd be happy to, just let me know where to post it ;)

DIY is fine but this could fall into regular Reef Discussion as well! :D

Working on an aquascape post. Its alot more than i thought it would be. Ill need to edit it down before i post it.

I was in Palm Springs this weekend so I decided to make the drive to Vivid in LA. Robert was knowledgeable and helpful, thanks a lot!

WoW! That's quite the haul! Do you live in SoCal? I'm about an hour or so from Vivid (depending on traffic).

Looking forward to reading your aquascape post/article! :D

Thanks, everything looks great except for the nasuta that lost its color. Im sure it will come back soon.
Im in Texas but travel everywhere so i get to hit the good stores while im in town.
The aquascaping post is still coming along, Ive just been busy with life lately...

Well a couple of upgrades arrived yesterday.

First the pmup from neptune to replace the aqua lifter. the luft pump would siphone from my ato if the level was higher than the sump.

Next a second 100w heater to suppliment the first. I underestimated the amount of evaporative cooling the open top tank would incur. As a result i recieved 30 alarms from my apex warning of low temps while I was out of town for thanksgiving. Now the first heater comes on at 78.7 and the second at 78.5 to keep the tank ate 79. Im hoping to limit the swings to less than a degree a day.

I used the seney to get some PAR measurements. Im not sure how accurate the seneye is but its seems like it could be in the ballpark.
I may have to raise the light to reach the edges a little more or crank the settings. If needed i can add another light

My Achilles finally started eating, he is looking healthy. Fingers crossed

#Shmoopy, you have an amazing build, I followed your signature link from your post in the neptune give-away and had to comment on your beautiful work. You also need some credit for that great hack of the bubble magnus doser display. Having the displays attached to the doser which is traditionally near the sump or hidden away can make it such a pain, you came up with a great and elegantly executed solution for that problem.

Wow thank you for the compliments ludnix. it looks like we had the same vision for our tanks, yours look great. Clean build
