Should I be worried about my nem?

Hey guys,

My nems been through a lot the past week, and it's been starting to recover, he's still expanding, and he's not curled up into a little ball yet.

But, his mouth is out (refer to the white part)- I've heard this is a bad sign

Let me know if I should be worried/what I should do.

Can you tell us about your set up? What lights? Parameters? How long has the tank been set up? How long has the nem been in there? What other corals/nems do you have? How are they?

I have an AI prime, my parameters were fine last I checked, I'll check again now. Tank has been up for 2 years, the nem has been in the back of the tank for about 2 weeks. I have some mushrooms, xenia, and a duncan that are all fine, and some acans that aren't doing that well but I think it's because my blenny is picking on them.

We had a power outage 2 weeks ago- my filter could not be on at night. My nem retreated to the back of the tank and sat there for whatever reason. The back of the tank was where my filter input was. He got sucked into it for a few hours, and I got him out. This was last saturday.

I have a couple BTAs and sometimes they look like that, then the next day look perfect. If it was mine, I wouldn't worry until I saw lesions or something like that. I'm an acro guy, so hopefully someone that knows a lot about nems will chime in.

Well it's still got its color so that's good. It sounds like it's had a rough couple of weeks. I would say just leave it alone as to not stress it further. Is that clown harassing it alot? If so then they might need separated

I would leave it, mine does weird sheet like that once in awhile, and usually comes back even better than before, it might be growing.
Just like everything that grows, it might be resting

The clown isnt harrassing, it's like nesting in it how it usually did.

Made the mistake of trying to move it earlier when I didn't know what to do.. things were getting worse and worse so I acted impulsively.

I'll make sure not to touch it anymore.

A good rule of thumb with sick (or even healthy) saltwater creatures is usually not to touch them. A gaping mouth is a very bad sign. Did you get to test parameters again? Hopefully one of the anemone experts will chime it soon. #OrionN

For now a water change couldn't hurt.

Ok, I’ll do a water change. And all my parameters are fine. There was some brown goo on it earlier, thoughts?

Sorry I couldn't get to this before, but I'm on vacation, snorkeling in the Florida Keys. The advice you are getting to leave it alone is good advice! And anemones push their gut out of their mouth for a number of reasons, some are bad and some are good. Remember, your anemone only has one opening, it mouth and it's... butt, are the same opening. Sometimes they need to flush out their gut, so they push it out into the water. I've seen my anemones do that and stay like that for as long as 24 to 48 hours.
