My clown appears to have white fish stuff on him:

In his flipper and back of his head.

He is otherwise acting normal, aside from paying more than usual attention to my wellso...

Think I should out him in QT? I have one setup for a new fish, copper is already at .5.

:-/. From what I've read about that, it's likely incurable. What about the other fish in my tank?

Also, how would that have gotten into my tank? I've introduced corals only in the last several months. Can coral carry it? I do dip them.

Looks like ich or velvet. A coral that had the parasite on it is all it would have taken. Get all fish into a QT and start copper treatment asap.

Your tank needs to go fallow for 76 days to be safe, and you need to treat all fish in QT with therapeutic levels of copper for 30 days. The fish will then remain in QT for the rest of the time the tanks fallow. Good luck you can beat it!

Ugh, catching them all is going to suck... Hoping lights off will make the clowns easier. The other two hide at night.

Did the coral come from a tank with fish. Like a friend? Most stores dont mix fish they sell with the coral they sell. They should be on separate water systems.

A coral can indeed carry ick and velvet into your tank. We recommend a coral QT for any new inverts or corals that come on rocks or have a hard shell/surface. A coral dip will not rid the new additions of ick or velvet to our knowledge as not even copper can kill these parasites when in the tomont stage.

You will need to QT all your fish and leave it fallow for a minimum of 6 weeks OR 76 days to be safe from ick, velvet, flukes and brook. The only problem is establishing that this is actually velvet and not brook. Are any other fish showing symptoms? Swimming into the flow of a powerhead, hiding from the light, lack of appetite, heavy breathing? If any others are showing symptoms, can you post pictures of them as well?

Having a hard time getting a good pic. I have two clowns, both look dusty. I also have a fairy wrasse and royal gramma.

The gramma also looks dusty. And I've seen him scratching yesterday.

The wrasse looks fine.

No, they didn't. If I had to guess this all started after the fragfest. I bought many pieces.

At any rate, fortunately I have a qt setup right now, so I'll get them all in.

The odds are that it's velvet. You'll know it's not if they don't start getting better while in the copper. If the QT is already at .5 cupramine, then you can drop them in there after a dip. Wait a sec.... I'll get a link.

Velvet (Amyloodinium ocellatum)

There's actually two there for your reading pleasure.

Well, I got one in. The other three are all hiding. I'm going to have to practically tear the tank down. :-(

I managed to catch the two clowns.

The other two are much harder and are very adept at hiding. I took some rock out, moved others, didn't even find them let alone catch them.

Any suggestions?
