Little sad making this post. I have had a yellow tang for about a year and a half. His name is Gillbert. He's the only one of my fish with a name. I have him in a 90 gallon and he is constantly dancing around my tank. I always knew I was going to trade him at some point. Rather have him get a larger tank to live his days. Is now the time to pull the trigger? I can't believe the prices and availability of yellow tangs.

I would say depends on his size and if your looking to maximize profits. If hes getting up to 4" or larger that may be a good time. I would not think that the current prices will hold forever. Just think a year ago Tridents were selling for a thousand dollars. Either more captive breading or new options on wild caught will bring the prices down.

He's definitely close to 4 inches if not there already.

hi ,give him swimming room, good for another year, are you planning upgrade?

There's an upgrade in my future but I don't intend on having him that long. New tank will happen after I get a new house. Rona set that timetable back. Probably 2 or 3 years out.

That would be a hard decision. That yellow fish is what drew me to the hobby 20 years ago. They’re lovely fish. Time for an upgrade;) Any friends with a larger tank to keep him in while waiting?

yes echo that idea..where are you located..?

I'm in Michigan. I don't think I'll have an issue finding someone who may want. I just won't live ship or trade unless going to a better home.

I love mine would never take her out of my tank.

A 90g is fine for a single tang that size, don't let the Tang Police propaganda tell you otherwise :p
And yellow tang prices have been going back down to 'not insane' prices lately (I'm seeing them for 120-150 now)
Those sites are all out of stock

So close yet so far or I’d take it

Please!!!! Tell me where??? I’ve not found one in stock for that price in a while. At least since the band anyways. Heck, I paid 220.00 for the biota CB I have in QT right now!! NM, Facebook I see.. I don’t use FB anymore. That would explain it. Haha.

They sell them on thier website a little more expensive, but a good deal on the sunday live sale they do. Ive purchased expensive fish from them before, they are legit.

I hate facebook too, have a phony account just for purchasing on their livesales lol

Thanks for this info. They actually have them in stock. 200-250.00
That’s a steal in comparison to what I’ve found.
I mean not quite the 29$ I paid years ago, but better than 450.00!!!!!
