That’s a steal in comparison to what I’ve found.
I mean not quite the 29$ I paid years ago, but better than 450.00!!!!!

Seriously if you call them and order on the phone telling them you want the sunday livesale price they will likely do it for that

they have them on their sunday facebook live sales all day for 120-150. I think suppliers are starting to see people aren't gonna pay gem tang prices for a yellow...

Hawaii has cut off being able to catch them. Very difficult, if even possible to breed in captivity.

Hawaii probably makes more money off of tourism coming and seeing a ton of fish in the water vs. selling us all their fish. Hawaii is smart .

I don't have a problem with what they're doing. It just created a supply and demand issue for yellow tangs. That's why the price went up.

Biota (very smart thinking) invested years ago and were successful at captive bred YT of good colour and shape, also very well suited to aquarium life.
It will take time to scale upwards, then prices will fall.

The problem is they still let people catch breeding size adults to eat.

Keep him. As mentioned above a 90 is a good size for a Yellow Tang. I had one in a 90 gallon bowfront I maintained for over 20 years (died when a well intentioned visiting family member turned off the AC when leaving on a hot day). What are yo feeding and how often? I've found tangs to be calmer using an autofeedet to feed tiny amounts throughout the day. For a sailfin and blond naso I used two at opposite ends of the system.

He's perfectly happy. I feed a wide variety of frozen Rods food, mysis and greens
