Show me your externally plumbed Jeboa DC pump.

Yes - its my skimmer pump (reserv :D) a Coral Box DCA 2000 - but there is earlier models of that pump that looks like the one to the right

Sincerely Lasse

I stand corrected, just looked at a spare DCP4000 I had around and it doesn’t have the cooling eyebrow I mentioned (must have been thinking of a Vario I used to have). Looks pretty much identical to the coral box pumps Lasse showed.

I would not expect them to overheat. I would expect the cheap plastic to weep, develop leaks or even just break. At a minimum, I would have a drain nearby and build a little box around it so that you do not bump or hit it. We are not talking about an Iwaki or PanWorld housing here... which are not a whole heck of a lot more (if any) getting a used one for a mixing/transfer station.

been using these pumps for years externally with no issues at all. Less ca percipitate freezing the bearing requiring a new impeller, which you can find on amazon every now and then. I use them as a basement pump, and the ac bill alone pays for the pumps after a few years. I think I have a 10,000 model running 45% and only needed the impeller which was 25 bucks, and my fault for not cleaning. I have had no leaks and if you do, you can clean up a plastic seem easy enough to get them to seal. Much more reliable then name brand pumps ive been using for decades. No where near the quality as my Iwaki, but uses so much less ac you cant go wrong

Agreed I keep my iwaki for transfer, and use the dc pump as a daily external basement pump to save electricity. which the actual dc draw is like 3/4 less then the ac unit

just did a 6 month cleaning, with calcium reactor and only using kalk, there was no build up on impeller and it could have gone another 6 months easy. still looked new

A friend has one of these pumps DCP15000 and cannot get it open for cleaning. I was afraid I would break/crack the plastic input housing.

Anything special you do to "release" the front housing or do you just torque it off?
it rotates CCW.
I had the hardest time to get it off the first time

I have run my Coral Box 6000 has an external pump for over 2 years with zero problems knock on wood.

I ran my Carol Box 6000 external ran fine until it finally gave up the ghost, due to a lack of cleaning.
