Show me your Favias!

Yesterday I purchased a bowserbankys favia and I am in love. I don't often see baby blue colors on corals and this one had a lot. It's baby blue, light and dark purples, neon orange and neon green; so pretty!!!! Mind you, my lights do not do this coral ANY justice WHATSOEVER. I am ordering the uno pro today so I will get better photos. I can't get the baby blue color as well on my phone along with the crappy lights.


I would love to see everyones favia if you can post them here! These are one of my favorite colors; would love to see the variety people have and where you placed yours.

I turned my favia into an nft.
Currently it is bailing out so I don't know if the lineage will survive.

I bought it for $20 and it was already in pretty bad shape. It started to recover but suddenly started bailing out. I’m going to leave them wherever they land because trying to take care of these little polyps is a hassle

That is a big valonia. The coral is about 2 inches across. The top knob was the original frag of about 5 polyps from Cultivated Reef.

That looks more like an Acan/Homophyllia bowerbanki instead of a favia - might be where the name is from. Either way, cool thread idea I'll see if I can't get some snaps at home. Have a billion pics of everything else but not many of my favia/favites/goniastrea.

A section of my favia garden. They grow like weeds for me. Warfare between them and other corals is my biggest problem.BJ Trigger photobomb. They are going through mating rituals and that’s their nest area I think.

Looks more like an Acanthastrea than a 'Favia.'

Judginf by the flesh texture and circular corallites, it's probably an acan and not a bowerbanki.

All Indo-Pacific Favias have been moved to other genera, such as Dipsastraea, Favites, Astraeosmilia, and Goniastrea. There are also other corals that may be misidentified as Favia, including Favites, Astrea, Coelastrea, and Goniastrea.

No, Faviidae is limited to the Atlantic/Caribbean, and also contains Atlantic corals from the former family Mussidae. Most of what we call 'Favia' are now in the family Merulinidae.

The red with the green border? Yes. From Tck. Dirt cheap and grows really well.

If you google the bowerbanki - it does look like them. I can see tho how the acan turns up. When I look online at the bowers, in person it looks exactly like those, however, there is bower acans and bower favias

this is a bower acan.
