Awesome fish guys. Sadly I have not seen my leopard wrasse in a couple of days. I am hopeful that he is just being shy and will pop out any day now. If he does I will post some pics as he is one of my favorite fish.

Here's a pic of my Choati that I bought about 5 months ago. Still going strong and eating very well.

Great pics 96gts... How long have you had the Choati?

Love my Leopards!

Good to hear your Choati is doing well 96gts. I've read too many stories on how tough they are to keep healthy.

I haven't been brave enough either. Amazing fish Everyone.

I don't even think about keeping them, if Mike, Terry and Aquaph8 won't try them, I have no shot :) Will look at everyones elses pics though and just wish.

I don't want to jinx myself, but the Choati is my 1st try and I have much better luck with it then some other wrasses like the Rhomboid. I'm shamed on saying how many Rhomboid I had lost, I had never been able to keep one for much more than 1.5months.

I think the key for the Choati is to get one thats eating. I just happened to see it at a LFS, it just got out from the sand, told the lfs to try feed it and it ate live brine and frozen mysis. I bought it and pick it up that following weekend. I'm not saying Choati is easy, as I do know someone locally that had lost quite a few, most just won't eat.

I kept a Leopard Wrasse years ago to great success. Then I gave it to a friend of mine and it perished shortly after. Like a mandarin dragonet or any specialized feeder you have to find a strategy to get these guys eating. I would take cyclopeeze soak it in the morning and let it set all day while I was at work. Feed that in the evening with every flow pump turned off and had some success as the leopard would eat it. A good mature tank helps but IME you have to get them eating.

There is more to it with the Choati's as they are extremely sensitive to ph and alk swings. I know several wrasse experts who have not been able to keep these guys successfully even though the fish were eating well.

Here is a bad phone pic of my potters pair:

I just added a black leopard Wednesday, but I haven't seen it come out of the sand yet.... hopefully soon :) I'm not overly worried I had a friend who's black didnt show for almost 2 weeks, and it was in a tank by itself lol

Here is my male Chaoti wrasse. I have yet to get a decent picture of the female, though I haven't tried lately. i'll have to do that.

They were both difficult to get eating over the first month and I was worried about the female especially. She was and continues to be much more slender than the male who was a fat cigar when he came to me from LA Divers Den. They are both doing amazingly well for the tough time I had getting them to eat. The female eats more options than the male. She relishes Live black worms, Nutromar Ova, Cyclopeeze, and small HiKari Mysis. He eats the Live black worms, cyclopeze and Nutromar Ova but I haven't really noticed him going for much else. I feed three to five times per day.

I have had them for almost 4 months. They are both gorgeous, healthy, and seemingly content. I notice the male chases the female from time to time but she just zooms off and doesn't seem to bothered.
