Show me your rocks under 100% whites

No orange filters needed. I want to see it all. The ugly brown and green algae, pests, coralline, crustaceans, sponges, worms, and whatever else is hiding from you under your regular blue spectrum.

I've become a little obsessed with taking photos of my rocks under whites each week and looking them over on a bigger screen. There's a lot to discover if you can get close enough. I tend to mostly just ooo and ahhhh over the colors tbh. I took these while doing a WC today. This is Caribsea Life Rock aged a little over 4 months. I would love to see some real ocean rock macro shots!

Too scared to show what your rocks REALLY LOOK LIKE?!? You can't hide under your blues forever!

I can spot ulva, bubble algae, cyano, nerite snail eggs, some sort of dark reddish brown algae coating a significant portion of my rock. I'm hoping the light yellow and green is coralline. There's tubular growths, but have not investigated more closely yet.

Am I the only one bored of polyp extension pics and bubbly mushrooms? I want to see your beautiful rocks!

You may have inspired me to start an aquarium macro shot folder as I happen to have a pretty good lens for such things.

Until then, here is a shot of some tunicates, sponges, algae and what not. Of course, the janky jpeg image is nothing compared to the full size raw image on my 4k screen.

For NEPat, who endlessly ribbed me for making spectrum claims I have this question for this crew: what specifically happens to your reefs if you leave the light this way, how would the reefs look after 3 months straight whites for example

I know what mine would do, some corals would bleach and green would win, but what would these reefs that look like 1998 just for a brief moment in time above do under all whites

It looks like you already have some good dark purple coralline growth, eh? I did use some pink coralline in a bottle early on in my tank. I'm pretty sure my CUC did more work to spread it, though. There is a pretty distinct similarity of the coralline on their shells to whats spreading throughout my tank.

This is how it looks under blues. It seems more of a red color I was actually scared at first thinking it was red slime growing but it’s definitely some coralline. I added some new live rock though and wondered if it would help it grow quicker onto that. Also what’s a cuc lol?
