I recently got back into the hobby after a 2 year hiatus. My tank just cycled and I LOVE acans so naturally, one of the first coral I put in my tank was an acan! :D

He's a Grapelicious Aussie Lord from World Wide Corals. The first pic is WWC's pic and what he looked like when I first got him.

The second pic was taken 2 days ago. I feed him everyday and he is fat and happy! :D

I'm ready for some more acans and to get my acan garden blooming, so show me your acan gardens and/or your favorite acan for inspiration! :D

I ended up moving the purple one with jumbo polyps because I felt it would just take up the whole garden

Oh Wow! I love those jumbos! The bigger the better! :D Those minty/red/purple ones on the bottom are amazing too!

Ya this one has huge polyps. Always had since I got it at 4 heads

The one on the bottom is a cherry red Japan. Its growth pattern is very different from the rest.

Hey, you Acan experts. I love them too. Have three. Too lazy to snap a picture (they are next door) a green/red, a kind of turquoise green/red and a turquoise green/red/purple. Nothing super special. All $25 frags but I think they look pretty nice.

But now can you tell me, what's the difference between and an Acan and a Favia? When I look at the frags at the LFS they look the same to me.

Thanks.

That Japanese Cherry is beautiful but I can't get over how HUGE that polyp is on that one acan! :D That one head is bigger than the whole Cherry colony! Love love love! Thanks for sharing. Now I know I have to find some GIANT acans somewhere! :D

Those turquoise colors are nice! I'm definitely looking for some turquoise/ mint acans.

I don't have much experience with Favia but from what I've seen online, they don't seem as fleshy/soft headed/puffy as an acan. Favias appear to have a harder outer layer and smaller/closer together heads... kinda like a brain coral. But that's just my opinion. I'm no favia expert. :D

Why do you guys like acans? Big polyps?

Left? I have that one

YES! So much fun to feed! :D (same reason why I love duncans too because I love watching them eat!) They come in a variety of vibrant colors! Relatively cheap and easy to find and keep in your tank. What's not to love!?

Some I used to have. Something happened and I slowly lost all my Acans and Scolys. I still have no idea what
the cause was.
