Here is an update on my Achilles! He fat, healthy, and eats everything I feed him like a pig[emoji3]

Ok cause I read online that they need around 180 that's the main reason why I didn't get one but now definitely going to add one

Post a pick when you get one! and again i suggest getting one from zoacollector.com. He sells them for $150 and accepts specifications (size colortation, etc.)

I will I didn't know about him until I read this thread but ones my build is done is gonna be hard not spending couple hundred dollars on fish from him. What tangs would you suggest for a 120 4'×2'×2' or a 150 5'×2'×2' want to keep mostly tangs no sailfins or hippos

You could keep one permanently in a tank that size. Mine is in a 120 and he is lovin life[emoji1]
I disagree w that. They will get more aggressive as they grow and really require a 6 foot tank if possible. Just cuz he is alive and is eating doesn't mean he is loving life. These fish swim a lot and if given the space will def use it. There are multiple tangs that would work in a 4 foot tank but Achilles really need something longer imo and ime

Yellow, purple , yellow eye kole, pow brown, chevron, convict are some that fit the bill. There are others. You maaaaay get away w a powder blue if added last.
Tangs need flow as much as they need space, so more flow is as important as size of the tank. They will get more aggressive when there is a lack of flow

Thank you didn't know that about flow kind off new to saltwater thinking off adding two purple tangs and a gold rim tang or achilles tang all tangs will be added at same time and kept in tank in separate containers to get them kind off acclimated to each other

Two purple tangs likely will not survive together as those are very aggressive towards eachother. What you want to do is avoid adding more than one of the same body shape together. So one purple, one gold rim , one yellow eye kole

That's what I figured but it don't hurt to ask instead of kole I might just do a morish idol what about and achilles with the gold rim and purple?

Putting a gold rim and a Achilles together is a bad idea because they are both ancanthuris tangs and they is a high probability that one will kill the other.

My Achilles and me purple get along great though, they swim together and eat nori together![emoji3]

Might try it and separate them if there is to much agreesion thank you

Which should come first the purple or the Achilles. I have dealt with both in the past in separate tanks, both were very aggressive and territorial. My favorite fish is the Achilles my wife is the purple, so we would like to house both in a 125 6' tank. Currently the tank has a yellow eye kole a zebra eel a mated pair of black oc clowns and a blue hippo (temp resident for a friend). Both the tangs are about 4-6" in length and fat. Curious on the success of those two fish together and to see everyone's thoughts

That's an option I didn't think about. I know having both in the tank would be awesome, but I am concerned with how aggressive both can be.
