let’s see it! Anything from the family we know of as Gobiidae. I love these fish (So much that I plan for a total of around 5 if I can get a second Black Clown Goby to try a pair).
Dartfish, Firefish, Gobies, let’s see them all!!

I’m getting prepared for a 4th goby, some of you may know what it is but I’m not going to say what species it is until I get hold of it! For now I’ll say it’s a very small species.

If you have any beginner friendly but unusual species then let us know! I can think of a few but want to see people who own them and see what they think.

I think they can max out around 5'', mine is probably about 2.5'' last I saw him. Kind of annoying that I paid $40 for him when all he does is hide all day lol.

This is my pink bar goby (Amblyeleotris aurora). She’s pretty elusive, this picture is from like July. I see here everyday at feeding time, and that’s about it (her hideout is in the back of the tank). It’s a really pretty fish, her dorsal fins look like pinkish, oily, translucent bat wings.

This is my pink bar goby (Amblyeleotris aurora). She’s pretty elusive, this picture is from like July. I see here everyday at feeding time, and that’s about it (her hideout is in the back of the tank). It’s a really pretty fish, her dorsal fins look like pinkish, oily, translucent bat wings.

I love the Amblyeleotris gobies, I’ve kept a few of these guys in an LFS and when they get used to you they’re so personable!

Allow me to introduce, the dynamic duo: Yoshi and Toshi!

This was a long time ago. I found IMHE, that the smaller Gobies don't have long lifespans.

These guys are reincarnated versions that are in my frag tank. And spiritually, I believe they are the same animals.
My Marty the clownfish died after 17 years, but I recently adopted a new baby ocellaris clownfish and they are exactly the same, quirks and all! Even down to biting of my index finger when he's hungry. ;Woot

This is a video of the original Yoshi the Yasha Goby and Toshi the Randalls shrimp in my 20 gallon frag tank plumbed into the sump of my Reefer 350 DT. The reincarnates are luckier. Now they have a harem of sexy shrimp living in the same little rock with them as "roommates". LOL.

They even have the same quirks as Yoshi and Toshi almost 10 years ago. Toshi furiously digs away, flinging sand in Yoshi's face. Yet Yoshi never looses his cool. He's always so serious and on the lookout for possible danger.

Currently I have a green clown goby, 2 male aurora gobies (each has half the tank), and 3 red headed gobies. There was a yellow watchman as well, but haven't seen him in over a month. I'll put some pics of my current guys as well as some out of my old tanks.
Somehow I don't have any pics of about half of my old gobies...

Everyone has some beautiful fish! My power just had a surge (Trees had fallen on the power lines) and so I couldn’t get back to you sooner. However I accidentally took a photo and somehow caught this:

Diagonal Banded Shrimp goby- Amblyeleotris diagonalis. They have quite a bit of color variation. Mine was supposedly collected near Lembeh, but not sure how true that is. Got around 3" long. Sold him with the rest of the fish when the stand broke on the 110 gallon, since I had nowhere else to put the fish at the time.

He shared a burrow with a tiger pistol shrimp (Alpheus bellulus) and a wheeler's shrimp goby (Amblyeleotris wheeleri).

Forgot to put pics of my firefishes in the earlier post. I have a single male in my display, and a male female pair in quarantine (female has oddball coloration, reduced pattern of sorts). They will go back in our evo that's set up as a reef once they're done with copper treatment and the tank has sat fallow long enough for ich and brook.

I love my Hectori too! Ill pick these guys over Rainfordi any day. I love both species but prefer these just a bit more due to the beautiful gold streaks they show on the dark body.
I love mine when it comes to algae, they eat GHA, Dinos, Diatoms, Cyano, the whole lot! Hopefully not Macro since I may get some of that to help with the population of pods for my next goby.

Their colors are stunning I especially love the eye near the rear of their body. And I hope he'll start eating some of my algea as my two new pincushion urchins won't touch it so far haha

Once it settles in it should do just fine, mine took a few days (I think 2-3) before it ate my cyano. A month or so later and there is no cyano and just spaghetti worms in the sand!

Forgot to post this little guy. He's was my first goby and was such a lively fish unfortunately he died with the rest of my tank 2 years ago. Hopefully will get another soon

I’ve just realised these guys seem to enjoy living under your weeping willow? leather’s frag plug haha. Wish I could have a fish that used Frag plugs/rubble to make a house with. I guess I have a Tilefish that uses it but nowhere near as well as this looks.
