Twon,

that is a very nice ora piece. I have been bugging the heck out of several lfs to get one for me. Problem is, it isn't on their lists :( Oh well, I will settle for a chip of a frag from a friends tank :)

yeah, it comes in as misc., dustin dorton who works for ora has it in his tank and it got sent out about a year ago. a lfs near me has a colony of it and he was nice enough to break a piece off for me.

here are mine - i have two others but no pics - a tort(?) and what was called a blue bottle brush(tenesis?) - i will try to get pics soon

twon8, i'm liking that german green with blue polyps ;) but i thought you said it was yellow last time. or maybe that was a different coral. lol

since i have no functional camera, i'm gonna have to post other people's pics...

heres a link to a thread over on RC: http://www.reefcentral.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=959572&highlight=ORA

i cant find the thread, but some guy on RC had a pic of an ORA coral that was green with blue polyps. i saved the pics...

i got a frag of this from a guy who got this from ORA. they claimed it was the purple pillow but i'm pretty sure its not. i have the frag in my tank. and i'm sure its not the ORA tort, and its definitely not a tenius. not really sure what the heck it is. but its sweet.

it's sort of a yellowish green, depending on the lighting

i dont' think that's the purple pillow as the pp has very tiny corallites; ive seen some ora torts come in lately that look a lot like your pic above, lots of green in the body.. who knows though.

i'm pretty sure the purple pillow has white polyps also. ditto on the tiny coralites.

i dont think its the tort b/c it looks completely different than the ORA torts i already have. its much more "bushier" with lots of branches, and the coralites are longer, sometimes curved, and the overall coral is much skinnier than a tort.

its almost like a turaki, or possibly what some people call an echinata

did you get it from someone in blacksburg?

nope, this one came from someone over on nano-reef. saw a pic of it in a ID thread last january, everyone ID'd it as the ORA purple pillow on nano-reef and RC when he asked for an ID.

just randomly came across the thread again when i was searching for something else last month. shot him a PM and got me very generously sized frag for $50.

guy said he got it from a saltwater store and it was labelled as ORA misc. several years ago. been growing like a weed in his tank since then. and i think its his only sps in his entire tank since its a nano, and he mostly does lps.

my newest frag rock:
an ORA green milli, pink milli, and blue milli combo rock - this thing will be awesome one day:

just wanted to let everyone know i got to see this colony today at the LFS twon got his from. all i can say is SWEEEEEEEEEEEET.

it looks wicked cool. some people say its yellow, but it looked like a very light green to my eyes. i imagine it depends on the light. but the polyps are the brightest blue polyps i've seen of that size on any sps coral. very very cool. can't wait to get that frag in my tank.

i cant believe i got a good sized frag for only $20. that was a steal, i was prepared to pay over $60 easy. i'm sure he could sell frags off of RC for $100 a pop, no problem.

yeah, mike's a really good guy and always is really fair with his prices, the only expensive things are ora, but they are expensive everywhere. some great deals, especially on frags from his own tank. you'll like the gomezi just as much, it gets green tips on the corralites, and gets really lite blue on new growth.

these are my newest ORAs that came from them at MACNA (sp?) last month from that a LFS brought back and sold pretty cheap. Still don't have IDs on them.
(let's see if I can post pics)

surfn, I don't recognize that as an ORA I've seen before but it's sweet! corallites kind of look like jacqualine (sp?) , carduus, carolinia, and another one that escapes me at the moment. Looks like a lot of the "deepwater" acros...I dunno. Awesome color though.
