Shrimp?

I looked in my tank a little after lights out and there were hundreds of these little guys swimming around the water columm. Any Idea what they are?

Either mysis or shrimp larvae. Do you have shrimps in your tank (sexy, cleaner etc)?

Nope I have no shrimp.

Could they be opposum shrimp? Anyways my pom pom xenia are loving eating them.

Fun fact

If you feed frozen mysis, eggs can survive the freezing process and hatch in a tank.

So that is one possibility.

Another is they came in on rock, coral or anything else that may be in your tank.

As for an exact ID on this, I am horrible at ID’img shrimp, but @vetteguy53081 or @KJ should be able to ID.

Just asking, as that is a possibility. Either way, the 2 I tagged should know what type of shrimp it is.

Nope I only use dry food.

Yup. They can hitchhike on frag plugs, etc.

Opposum shrimp is just another name for mysis shrimp. They are the same.
