Out of my fish order I have a Naso tank in a tank with a convict tang and a goby. He has ich or velvet but I'm leaning towards ich. He has some large crusty white spots on a fin and a few spots on his body. I also haven't seen him eat since adding him to QT Thursday night. The other fish in the tank are eating and not showing any signs but I know they have been exposed.

My question is should I start coopersafe now even though he's not eating?

I'll try to grab a pic now.

Better video...

Dang sorry about the sideway video!

See what you think.

Sorry the video looks terrible! On the phone it looks ok.

It looks like it's only on one fin but also looks like larger spots of it on one side of the body as well. I haven't see any signs of ich yet on any of the fish in QT.

I do have one other tang not eating yet on another tank. He constantly stays in hiding.

Any ideas on something to spurn them on to eat?

I also need to start Prazipro. Should I wait until the tang starts to eat?

He doesn't look horrible wouldn't treating the issue with Prazipro and copper then worry about feeding be the right course of action? As a fish starving to death is a less of a concern then a infection/ich/velvet taking over?

Have you tried soaking their food with garlic? As an appetite stimulant.

Prazi will just further suppress appetite, so I would hold off on that for now. Have you tried offering nori to the tangs? Sometimes it helps to rubberband it to a small rock (to get them interested in it) instead of hanging it from a clip.

I thought I read somewhere from Humblefish I believe that if the fish are not eating then ou should suspend the treatment until they do. Not sure about that though.

I'll try that now.

Now that I think about it he has been flashing or scratching at all. He seems pretty chill. I may try the dip tomorrow.

I know no one wants to hear this but I've seen velvet materialize this way in the past, but you would know within a couple days at the latest.

To get feeding, live blackworms, live brine, red nori rubber handed to a rock. Soak food in garlic guard for taste and selcon for nutrition (frozen food). Try a little of everything, but I've rarely seen a healthy tang turn down live brine AND live blackworms -- all of that moving stimulates a natural feeding response.

Good luck rev, I have seen where that could be lymph but I worry that you would have noticed it growing more slowly. I certainly hope I am wrong.

Also, if I recall didn't you TTM this fish?

No this is a brand new fish I just got on Thursday night from a fish order. So it's not something that grew rapidly. I'm pretty sure it was there.

Okay I should have read the full thread sorry!

I would watch carefully as said. Hopefully it's lymph as many times lymph materializes this way. Naso are strange as they get growths on their bodies perhaps lymph more frequently than other tangs -- also tend to discolor constantly with even light stress which leads to how noticeable it is.

Good luck, friend!
