Silicone return hose. Help ease my mind.

(Highly recommend this, with silicone tubing; great for water-changes and emergencies.)

Do yourself a favor and go black the first time. Save you the trouble of pulling out the clear algae covered hose later. :)

Ask me how I know.

Just FYI, I got the 1" hose from that link. Its great for the $$$. Much cheaper than BRS and its black. Definitely worth it. It fits my 1" barbs snug but I wouldn't trust it without a clamp.

Vectra m2 is listed as having a maximum head pressure of 21.5'. 21.5' divided by 2.31 = 9.31psi. If there is a shutoff downstream of the silicone hose that can be shut off (in effect trapping the maximum pressure) then 9.31psi is the minimum psi rating you should be using.

You don't need 35psi rated hose for a aquarium application. Nothing out there in the hobby grade will even reach that kind of psi rating. Your more than over thinking this.

I've been using the 1/8 inch thick, 5 psi rated stuff for years, never had a line fail or burst. Avoid the 1/16 thick stuff, the hose has a tendency to collapse on its self with negative pressure.

The abyzz makes 12PSI and Ecotech makes close to 10, close off a valve and you'll burst the thin-wall silicone hose.

I recommend quality hoses if you want to sleep at night.

Fair enough. Lets be real, If you are running those pumps flat out with minimal head hight to force those pressure numbers, I wouldn't trust much if any soft hose and definitely wouldn't be using silicone in those application(s).

There is plenty of proper silicone tubing pressure rated at 30-40PSI without any reinforcements needed that will allow anybody using it ease of use and no sleep loss.

I've explained that at the end of the thread here.

Glad it works for you, but no semi clear anything for me @ all.

My non rated silicone black stuff has been used in some aquarium applications for 5+ years, Im good.
