Silicone separating on Red Sea tank???

Good lord! I’d post this in their vendor forum. What has happened to Red Sea they once were well respected now their stuff is pure garbage

Yeah,
It should be posted down there.

Seems like the Red Sea Reefers are having big trouble, with this same kind of issue.

The issue here is that Red Sea for the most part doesn't monitor this Forum much if atall. So getting attention from them here is futile. You can't post anything like this on there Facebook group either because the Red Sea die hard Mods will delete it and block you (One can only assume that is why they steer clear of being active on here as they have very little control of what goes on).

Now most are aware of the huge volumes of failures Red Sea has been having over the past year. There step into the larger tank market seems to have been either a rushed decision or a poorly executed one. However, there are a few things other than poor silicone that "May" have caused this. @TheKylersFire once you've drained the tank, contact Red Sea Directly and speak with them. Once things have been worked out, or not, feel free to let us know. I'm sorry to hear you have to go through this on what I can only assume was a VERY exciting new build.

I will add that I reached out to Red Sea about there behaviors on there FB group and other things. They did respond with a rather poorly thought out email. And personally, this extinguished any hope of me recommending them to anyone for anything ever again. But that doesn't mean they won't make things right here.

they did monitor it and have a rep in 2019. Fb is pretty much dead for businesses these days, try Twitter, Instagram and perhaps Snapchat.

Id even go as far as calling corporate and demanding the office of the president, coo ceo, etc and looking up their email addresses, emailing them as well as look up their directors on LinkedIn, etc and email them as well.

RedSeaKev does monitor that forum but he just does not post down there as much.

I could talk to him, but we are at a friendship level at this point, and I don't want to put our friendship in jeopardy.

That is an interesting idea I would have never thought of, but I could see that as somethings really helpful. The only thing I wonder in this case is that the failure a result of pressure or the build quality?

A couple of the custom tank makers do it, glasscages and coast to coast, maybe others.

I think it's pretty much standard practice on most custom tanks now adays. Reef Savvy, Glass Cages, Coast to Coast, Tank Me USA, Miracles all come with it at no extra charge. And as you mentioned, many others.

@TheKylersFire, sorry to see the situation you are dealing with. I am sure RedSea will help you out.

As for bottom bracing, Glass Cages use bottom euro-bracing as a standard. We have building tanks for over 37 years this way. Don't change a good thing.

Thank you everyone. Bummer to have to drain it but luckily all my fish are in quarantine and Corals are at my brothers house so it’s just rock and sand. Still a ton of work but better then a disaster. Everything is going into 50 gallon trash cans until I can get it replaced. Gotta love this hobby!!!

Wow this is really disconcerting. I keep hearing more and more of issues like this of Red Sea.
Drain the tank before a blow out. And definitely contact the manufacturer.
Please keep us posted.

@TheKylersFire, Dont give up. This is a journey. That is so much of what this hobby is about. the support on this forum will help you through. I am not just saying that because I am with Glass Cages. I enjoy supporting and seeing everyone supporting each other. This is just one of the things you will look back on and say remember when. You can make it a learning experience that will help others. You will get there. Lean forward and press on!

Oh my! I hope you can get it sorted out, and without a headache.

I will keep everyone posted with what Red Sea does. I bought it from BRS so I’m guessing they have some pull with Red Sea as wel if I need to use that
The tanks have a 3 year warranty you will likely get a replacement tank sent to you. From all the tank failures I have read about RS has been good at getting new tanks to the owners.

Sounds like it was a new tank so glad you don’t have livestock issues to worry about.

Hey guys

Here’s an update- I’ve drained the tanks and currently have all my rock sand and inverts living in trash cans. My fish are all in my quarantine tank and will be ready on Friday so just my luck that I no longer have a tank! Breakdown process took about 5 hours and the most frustrating part is all the time I spent organizing cords, setting up my Apex trident etc are all going to have to be redone one way or another so it’s probably a 10 hour redo. I know RedSea won’t reimburse me for any of that time but seems like the least they could do is have a little urgency in this ordeal

I’ve reached out to Red Sea and this is clearly not a priority for them. I got one response late in the day yesterday and responded immediately only to. It hear back until late this morning. I’m still confident they will replace it but why put me through the ringer? They even had me send copies of my drivers license. I also reached out to BRS where I bought the tank who said the exact same thing as the community here. Drain it immediately and get it replaced. It’s just frustrating that Red Sea is going to drag their feet. I’m sure having all my stuff in a couple trash cans (sand, rock, shrimp, snails, sea cucumbers, hermits, and more inverts) isn’t the best and most stable thing.

I did inspect the tank and all the seams when I filled it so this is something that happened in the last 5 months of the tank being full. Lucky I caught it now let’s go Red Sea show your customers you care and take care of us!

I truly feel for you. Red Sea should have better customer service. I would consider buying another tank and sell your replacement tank. Deep blue tanks superior to red sea in every way. IMO deep blue aquariums
