Silver sides safe for anemone ?

I have one a couple of blocks away since I leave maybe like 12 minutes from the gulf shrimp is very cheap maybe like 2 dollars at pound
The thing is they bath them in baking soda to take of the salt idk if that safe
If you can, do like I do and buy your shrimp straight off the boat. I have a guy that runs a live bait boat and gives me a few when I need them

Mine come out of Mobile bay. Not a bad idea catching them yourself.

It's been a bit since I really read up, but silversides were linked with quite a few nem deaths. The conclusion was that as a not for human consumption product, the fish aren't treated with food safety in mind and carry some risk of being spoiled before freezing. I also read that gut examination of anemones showed that they almost exclusively feed on planktonic foods. These two bits of info are the main drivers behind my choice to not feed them anything large. My BTA's might get an occasional squirt of thawed LRS or Reef Roids, but essentially just get whatever floats by in the water.
You can actually find frozen silversides for human consumption in some international supermarkets. Bought them all the time to feed to my fish in a predator tank. Once in a while I would feed a piece to an anemone in a reef tank. Also, a fraction of the price per pound compared to the stuff in the LFS...Not that I ever actually tried to eat any of them myself.

Thanks for the tip. Our local ethnic foods aisle barely gets beyond pasta and taco shells, but I bet more populated areas could benefit from the info.
