I've got my skimmer inside my sump and I'm not getting it to operate properly. Does the water height around the skimmer make a difference somehow? The discharge tube has a bubble diffuser (Coralife 220) that outlets properly (I believe). I just haven't gotten any skimmate or anything since I put it into service a week ago. I've adjusted the water flow into the skimmer and I can watch the water rise and up into the collection cup and overfill. I'm just not sure what I'm not doing right. I'm at work right now so I don't have a picture handy. Thanks!

Those skimmers aren't to great, but there is a modification that you can do. This member has been away for awhile but let me see if I can get her attention @drstratton, can you help this member out with that modification that you did? Thanks!

Thanks! I've heard/read after-the-fact that they're an "entry level" skimmer. While I'm not totally pleased about it, it is what is at this point. thanks for help.

Hopefully she will be along shortly. I'll try to send her a pm with a link to this thread to see if she will reply. She did a pretty cool mod to hers. Hang tight

Try searching by her username for the thread, perhaps?
I'm not sure that she posted it in her thread. But I could be wrong, and that was a good idea! I give my reefsquad banner to you for me not thinking!

Hey, for the record, here's how I set up that search....it's not 100% clear if you haven't played with the forum search a little:

All the checkbox states are crucial and not the defaults.

That got me within a page or two of results. Not bad! :)

Nice way to search! I've never used it like that

My tank is none-too-impressive these days....you might have to take in the history to appreciate it. ;) It's been on the back burner since we had our daughter 3+ years ago....the tank has suffered a bit for it, as you might imagine. Considering that, it's actually in great shape.:rolleyes:

Most of the ups and downs have been documented on here though, so depending how curious you are...it's there for the reading. :D

Here are my three main threads, but not all is contained there.

Okay, that could have been in a PM.

Sorry @LParker480 – consider it a bump? :D
Oh yeah.........we took over your thread. Sorry! But the link has been found for you in the process! I held the key all along, just didn't know it.

and thanks for the search lesson! Being newer to this site that's helps! That's 2 birds with 1 stone.....or 2 fish with 1 net??????
Two fish with one net man, two with one net. Not a problem! Although it's wasn't me that found it.........i had alot to do with it lol

Hey @cameronh, I see from another post that this was already found! With this mod, my skimmer pulled out a lot of junk! I hope it works well for you @LParker480!
