Simplicity 120 insane amount of bubbles

If thats a new tank with dead rock their is nothing to skim. If thats the case I would turn it off and wait until their is something to skim.

Umm i could see where the point about not being much to skim if anything. I do have two small fish , plus daily mb7 . But, if anything it should still break in.

Thats not enough to get a skimmer working, imo.
But my bet is its why its doing what its doing.
Only thing to do is raise it up and slow it down. However a new tank like that really does not need the skimmer yet.

I have a dc120. I think it took weeks to finally settle in. Like 4 at least. They are a pain. And I still have micro bubbles but it’s way less than before.

They really are a pain . I dont get it, i saw so manu great reviews online and on youtube but wow. Im hoping this get better

I see Prime in your stand, did you use this to condition the water?
If so, this is why you are having so much micro-bubbles.

I think you are expecting to much from a cheap skimmer. This thing is cheap for a reason, the pump and controller are pretty crappy and there are a lot of gaps for the bubbles to get out but it mostly works so decent reviews. A high end skimmer will cost you 2-3x and idk if you really get that much better results

I have the same skimmer. Speed was the main setting I tuned to make the bubbles disappear entirely. Mine is set to 14-15. My tank was running weeks before adding the skimmer and it began producing skimmate almost immediately. I had to restrict air flow a bit then lessen over a few days. After two months I had to adjust the column water level. It has been months now and it’s been working great.

Your break in time will vary with bio load.

The only regret I have is that it doesn’t have an inlet port for ozone/fresh air feed.

My sump doesn’t have a bubble trap (fijicube24) so all the bubbles going to the display. Not fun

create a bubble trap with a piece of sponge and acrylic/plexiglass. Put it in the return chamber or the fuge chamber at the point where the water spills in. Should fix it.

I have the Simplicity 320. Try turning the pump speed down. I think I run mine at 2/3 to 3/4 max. Dial back the air. I run mine with the screw turned halfway to 1/4 of the way in. When I had little organics in the tank I ran it with very little air at all.

No that prime is from my Reefer 170 when i had it. Just never disposed of it just in case.

Yes skimmer is cheap, but like i said i saw great reviews. Should have gotten my Nyos as was planned

Yea for now, i think i will just run it while lights are out. I have it sitting now at about 7 1/2 inches , pump set at 3 / 9 speed setting, airflow completely opened as recommended by Manufacturer , and water column level set to 1/4 turn.

i filled the chamber following the skimmer with marinepure. lets see if it helps some.

Yea when I do my next tank I'll use a tunze as their skimmers are insane. I almost went with nyos, but they seem to have their own issues and not worth the price.

i ran the octo 110 sss on my reefer 170 and that thing was a monster bro. Decided to go with this one.. I dont want to call it quits yet though

So after trying all the recommendations from everyone, i have yet to see any improvement. This thing has been Running now for two weeks and it’s just as bad as day one. I just cant take these microbubbles any more. I have been running it only while lights out, which is about 16hrs. I have produced some skimatte, not to dark but definitely did. My bioload continues to be the same, 2 firefish, 5 snails, 5 blue legged hermits, which i feed daily frozen brine. Anyone from Simplicity Aquatics please help or anyone else. Here are some videos of it running.
