Hello,

I am currently struggling with my SM253 spitting out a bunch of micro bubbles. I have tried tuning the skimmer many times and I still have this issue.

Does anyone else have an issue with their skimz skimmer pushing out a lot of micro bubbles?

Skimmer was bought used and has been up and running for about 2 months now. Pulls a lot of skimate just produces a lot of bubbles some are making it to my display which is just annoying to look at

I know from the factory it was not able to adjust the air into the skimmer. Air adjustments are made by selecting the pump speed. The person I bought it from added a valve to adjust the air. Could the bubbles escaping be caused by me not flowing enough air to the skimmer by throttling back the air valve?

If you can, add a coarse sponge pad to a baffle proceeding your return pump. If you keep the sponge slightly above the water level and let the water run through it you should get rid of the bubbles.

I’ll have to try and figure a way to do that. I run a Bashsea signature sump and there are no baffles before the return pump. But I do have a small square chamber before my pump that I could fill with a course sponge pad.

Where is the best place to look for something like that?
