Skin fading out?

At first I thought maybe he had been rubbing up against some rocks or something. Then it started getting worse very quickly. This has been three days in the making. What's going on with him? The other fish are fine.

That's a very aggressive bacterial infection eating away at his skin. You need to get him into QT ASAP and treat with this combination of meds: Furan-2, Seachem Kanaplex, Seachem Metroplex. Or any of these antibiotics would be better than nothing right now: http://www.americanaquariumproducts.com/AquariumMedication2.html

I don't think this fish has long left to live without prompt antibiotic treatment.

If its gram negative, very possible. If gram positive, not as likely. All you can do is wait & see. Unless you can offer up a skin scrape viewed under a scope.

After moving all the rocks on the left side of my tank and 30-40 minutes of chasing him, he's finally in the qt. how much kanaplex should I give to the qt?

@Humblefish in the article it says I can combine furan 2 and kanaplex but how much of each should I combine together? Each packet of furan 2 is 85 mg which can be used for 10 g of water. The kanaplex says one level measure for every 5 g. So if I just combine half of the furan 2 with the level measure of kanaplex would that be alright to put in the 5 g qt?

No, use them both together at full strength. Furan-2 & Kanaplex use completely different ingredients, so no worries of overdosing.

I treated him as with kanaplex and furan 2 and his skin is looking much better. The only question I have is the lighter looking skin near his mouth still unhealed or is it just scared?

@ndz98 It's really hard to say. Most of the time it heals without causing any disfigurement. But if the infection went too deep, it could be scarred.

You think I should leave him in there for another week and see if there's any improvement or should I just put him back in the DT?

How many days of continuous antibiotic treatment has it been? He needs at least 10 days in the triple dose.

I did four to begin with then I didn't give him any meds for a few days because I wasn't sure if he could have more than the recommended amount on the package. After I got an answer if I could I did three more days. All doses were given two days apart from eachother with a water change before each one. I did not give a triple dose. Only the regular amount it specified for 5 gallons. Should I do 5 triple doses with two days apart from each one?
