Slow growing lps corals

Plate corals are not super fast either. Another to consider after some practice is a lithophyllon corals http://www.melevsreef.com/critter/lithophyllon-coral

I have had mine about a year maybe and it has gotten not quite double in size (like 1.5" to start. Mine is on the sandbed.
 
LPS grow slow enough. you can always frag it. Euphyllia should not grow and jump across sand. For the sake of argument, lets just say Scolys do not reproduce and you should never frag them. Do don't have to worry much about them growing into another area. I think if you put a lot of things on an island, they will not jump to another island very easily.
