Hey guys just finished cycling a new tank I been working on and added a clean up crew this past Wednesday. I have 8 snails all piled up by eachother at the water surface since yesterday they haven't moved. I know this means something and I know you guys will know! Thanks!

I'm about to run a full test on both tanks right now. I tested everything on this tank on Monday and everything was in check except for Alk Cal and mg. I dosed BRS 2 part accordingly throughout the week to adjust those. I'll get back to you in an hour with all numbers

Also what are you doing for flow and airation?
Looks pretty still

How did you acclimate?

i noticed your power head and your return pointed away from that corner, maybe as twilliard asked it's something to do with flow. could lead to a buildup of more growth there.

Also another note, I don't know what your plans are with this tank, but your dosing 2 part to a newly cycled tank? is this necessary ?

For flow I have one jabeo 25 and the returns I actually have one on each corner of tank. I acclimated the cuc according to instructions from reef cleaners where I bought them just float for 15 mins then place in tank. I only dosed the 2 part because when I tested last Monday my levels were as follows
Alk 5.88
CA 450
MG 1200
Po4 .02
Nitrate 0
Nitrite 0
Ammonia 0

So I was just dosing to get those levels in check. Now thinking back I should of just done a some what large water change on monday... anyway I'm testing now I'll post when I'm done. And yea I think that particular corner is not getting enough flow at all

Alright so now this is what I have..

Temp 77.6 (apex)
Ph 8.06 (apex)
Ammonia 0 (api)
Nitrite 0 (api)
Nitrate 0 (api)
Phosphate .00 (hanna )
Alk 9.2 (red sea)
CA 440 (red sea)
MG 1320 (red sea)

Nitrate and phosphate dropped a bit since monday. I was at .02 and for Nitrate it was between 0 and 5 with API last time. Today was for sure 0.

So I think Twilliard you are on to it with the flow. I'm gonna play around with it now I have an extra little pump sitting in my garage I'll try shooting that over there and moving around my jebao too. Should I be concerned with my nutrients being 0?

There Having there holiday party?

Mine have always done that as well. It seems to be something they do, though I have never searched out the answer why. At some point they go back down into the tank though usually.

There are many reasons why they do this.
Lack of o2 is one of them. This is why I asked about flow and may want to look at turnover rate.
Now the nutrient question is a whole different story. Snails dont care about that but corals do.
I dont see much for them to eat so watch them close.

It could be that were you water line is at, there is more algae, your tank is very clean and they are possibly looking for a food source. The snails look like turbo snails and if they are turbo's are aggressive eaters.

They look like Nerite snails, check the floor if you're missing any, I can count how many times I've saved mine from certain death.

Cool thanks for advise guys. I moved around powerhead and added a little pump I had laying around and the water is moving around alot more now I'll keep an eye on them and see what happens. I just wasn't sure if it was a sign that something specific was out of whack with the water. I wanted to move one of my corals over from my bigger tank and see how it does. I have the levels all rather close to the same as other tank except for No3 and Po4 being 0. I'll give it a try.

I have nerite's that do that as well all the time, but i also have lids on the tank so they can't escape. I'm not sure why they do it but i've never had any issues so i just let them be
