Eastern shore ! You all have the best oysters!!

I'm right in between Baltimore and Annapolis (15 minutes either way), we started getting it about 3PM. Looks like we're getting about 1/2" an hour and it's supposed to keep up until Sunday........yeah, I wish I didn't live in an apartment (can't really have a generator). Just have to rely on my battery back ups to keep the heater and return pump running.

It's just started snowing here (central NJ), earlier than originally predicted. They've increase accumulations up to 12-18 inches.

Amen to that brother
Ocean side oysters from smith island are the only way to go. I love slurping down an oyster that was in the bay 3 hours before.

Funny thing ..... Y'all get sold bay side oysters as sea side oysters XD I don't do it personally but it's common practice. I can tell the difference from shell shape of the oysters and shape of the meat. It's really the only way. Other thing they do is take a bay oyster and put it on the seaside for 2 weeks it salts it up. Come on my way I'll learn ya some oyster stuff XD

We know a guy who gets oyster for use the day we want them. You know that it is a bay oyster when the shells are good and long.

Times like these I am glad to live in florida. My biggest concern is if I should invest in a heater for the tank.

Best of luck to all going through this mess

Bay oysters are short and wide with a good cup and thick shell. Sea sides are long narrow shells they get like that cause they grow so fast :)

let me know if you want some gooood recipes :)

* I meant to say ocean side oyster not bay side

i would kill for an oyster on the half shell right now :)

This is my first winter with my tank and I am freaking out:confused:
I was unable to get a generator but I got an air pump. If the power goes out I am going to wrap my tank in blankets and float bottles of boiling water in the tank to keep the temperature up.
Your luck is going to be needed ;)

Make sure the water is not so hot it melts the bottle. :)

My husband and a friend went over to the shore today and got 6 bushels of seaside oysters, we fried some and slurped some raw. :D

Anyone I've brought oysters to prefers my baysiders over Seasiders the flavor is better and we grow ours in an area that's deep so we get good salt flavor. Need oysters or clams and are around send me a message. I just found an awesome recipe where we marinade it overnight wrap it in bacon and roast it in the oven ..... Soooo good. With this weather we are worried about clams and oysters freezing if the tide goes out too much.

I live in central VA.
I am not going to be able to sleep tonight and if the power does go out ill probably stay up or wake up every 30 minutes to an hour to float new bottle of boiling water and check one everything
hope nothing dies
I'm in central va too around ladySmith and we lose power if it rains to hard. Before I had a generator I used to use power converters usually 500 to 1000 watts will do but you have to start your car frequently to keep battery charged

Have you ever been up to Fish World (i'm sure you have)?
It is one of the best places I've gone to and the people are very nice. Right now I am getting them to save my a green mandarin that eats frozen foods if they ever get one. Mandarins are my dream fish and I will target feed him at least once a day.

Holy cow – I live in Vermont and I've never seen it like that when I have opened up my front door! How fun!

Calling for 12-24 inches on Long Island. I for one am sick of watching TV reports about how bad it is.

Wish one of our great vendors could do a pop sale to keep us somewhat occupied?

Anyone else up for something to cheer us all up?

Yep. He's a little pricey but has quality livestock I got a huge lobo from him on my last trip. He will talk your head off but he knows his stuff he has fish in his Dt in the back area that's over 30 years old. My kids love his schooling yellow tangs in his 1200 gallon. Have you been to tiki corals in richmond?
I've been in the hobby for 15 years so I've been to every place from DC to va beach
