tank what interesting new thing would you try to keep in it? There are so many interesting things people do on here. Many are in other countries or near the sea. I am land locked in an area that has no support for reefing except through the mail.

I have many interesting ideas but they are limited by the fact I can not get live food here on a steady enough basis to feed them. In the end I feel that is why my lions didn't make it.
That rules out the interesting small predators like anglers, sea goblins, octopuses and cuttlefish.

This is the last part of my upgrade that has been put off by life things. The 240 and 180 are running well and the 75 has been moved into the fish room, plumbed and lit. I am putting water in it now. It is on my common sump with all the other tanks. It is lit by a Reefbreeders Photon V2.

Perhaps another try with macroalgae with some interesting crabs.

I thought about them. I read posts about them and they seem to need a very specialized kind of care.

No interest in clowns. I have 2 snowflake eels now. They eat most anything.
I have considered some of the other eels I see on here. Not sure what else would qualify.

I'd set it up as a wrasse dominated system. Or perhaps a single undulate trigger, as a wet pet of sorts? Maybe start the undulate small, and add a shoal of 6 or so Dascyllus melanurus?

If I had a 20-50 gallon I would try frog fish (anglers). I would also culture the live food they needed regardless of whether I had an LFS near me or not.

I'd do a caribbean reef biotope. Gorgonians, RFAs, mushrooms, ricordea, zoas, etc. Maybe some gulf liverock to bring in native macros and sponges? For fish, an indigo hamlet with a few basslets and jawfish might be good.

One LFS I go to the owner was telling me about a customer of his that has an all damsel tank. He says she collects nothing but damsels and has at least one of every different kind she can get a hold of. If any new or unique damsel comes into his store he calls her and she comes to get it.

that’s a neat idea! divide the 75g to have an area to cultivate live food for the frogs

I would do nems, carpets of different color. Had one but it killed too many fish so it had to go

How about what I call micro-predators, different basslets. You can have a bunch of royal grammas, a pair of lantern bass, some black cap basslets, and a swissguard or two. Put in some live rock so they can set up territories and a few gorgonians.

Ooh ooh, what about a mangrove nursery? If you have enough vertical space you could tie up the mangroves near the top of the tank until they grow roots down and keep juvenile fish and micropredators underneath.

I had both a voltans and a dwarf lion eating dead shrimp…

Was for me. The Zebra ate Krill I put in the tank for other fish exactly twice.

Precovid I could get feeder fish in the mail and it wasnt a problem.

I started them off with small feeder shrimp, went to pieces of silver sides and then chunks of large white shrimp.
On occasion they would get pieces of raw fish.

Glad it worked for you
There were 2 snowflake eels in the tank that got that stuff regularly. The lions never ate it or even looked at it.
