So if you had an empty 75 gallon

Glad it worked for you
There were 2 snowflake eels in the tank that got that stuff regularly. The lions never ate it or even looked at it.
That’s too bad you didn’t have luck, fish are funny.
My anthias eat flake like pigs, I’ve heard some people have trouble with them.

tank what interesting new thing would you try to keep in it? There are so many interesting things people do on here. Many are in other countries or near the sea. I am land locked in an area that has no support for reefing except through the mail.

I have many interesting ideas but they are limited by the fact I can not get live food here on a steady enough basis to feed them. In the end I feel that is why my lions didn't make it.
That rules out the interesting small predators like anglers, sea goblins, octopuses and cuttlefish.

This is the last part of my upgrade that has been put off by life things. The 240 and 180 are running well and the 75 has been moved into the fish room, plumbed and lit. I am putting water in it now. It is on my common sump with all the other tanks. It is lit by a Reefbreeders Photon V2.

Perhaps another try with macroalgae with some interesting crabs.
In a 75 I would do:
A community reef however, instead of one of every different species I would go for fish that I know are communal and get groups of them instead of having one of every species.
This is a route I’m going in my 3’x16”x1’ tank and so far it’s working nicely.

If I had to go for a specific fish to go for… I’d be doing a Tilefish Only Tank however these also can have some rather difficult care (Such as needing a highly secure tank).

For me, i,d have things i cant have in my display tank…probably a predatory tank. i’d love a baby volitan, a grouper or some eels etc.
Trouble is you would need to go with dwarf or very small species.
A voltans could rapidly out grow a tank that size…

I’d also do that. I believe there’s a video of someone with a predatory tank in a reef and it looks really natural. I cant remember what the video is called however they had I believe 4 Dwarf species of lions in a 4-5’ tank (I cant remember the exact dimensions).

years ago (pre kids) I had a 125 that was a predator reef.
Volatans, dwarf, snowflake, triggers, big butt sohal.
Sadly when Hurricane Charley rolled through while we were in the midst of moving the tank lost power and all the fish died.
