Things are starting to show up now!

My tank and rock should be here Wednesday the 27th.
I went with the Fluval 13.5-gallon tank.
The rock I got is the Walt Smith 2.1. (11lbs)

As of right now, I am going to cycle the tank with all the stock stuff, after that is complete I will be buying the Intank media baskets.

Questions for the seasoned nano reefers..... I am thinking about running Chemi Pure Blue in it. Should I have the Seachem Purigen and PhosGuard in there as well? What are your thoughts?

I am going to get my water Wednesday. I ended up getting a few jugs from Kmart and 2 buckets from Homedepot.

No don’t mix and match chemicals Chemi pure and phosguard is ok but I don’t recommend running Purigen and chemi pure at the same time

The chemipure blue nano packs work great, the big things of chemipure tend to cake up on me in my IM Nuvo 20. Wouldn't run chemipure and purigen together. You also want to build a natural cycle in your aquarium and not rely too much on chemicals to remove ammonia and nitrate.

I planned on waiting a few months before i went with the chemipure.

What should i use in the media baskets

I use filter floss, phosphate reducing pads, and sometimes chemipure. Most of the time its just filter floss and the phosphate pad in the media baskets the chemipure goes in an empty chamber in the back of the tank.

The rock and tank came today...

Rock looks awesome!!!

The tank not so much.... One side is broke. Had to call Petco and they are sending me another.

It's up amd running!!!

This is one of the quietest tanks i have ever had.

Going to have the water tested this week see how it is coming along.

If i get the all clear ill start with some shrimp amd maybe a snail.

Anyone have recommendations on pairing? If the inverts do good ill pick up some clown fish then start with corals.

Went to get some shrimp but was told not to get them yet cause i didn't have any algae.

So ended up with 2 clowns. Next up some cleaner shrimp and corals. Going to wait a week for them.

Need to get a white or black background to cover that electric plug.

Found a very small leak in my tank. I just received my replacement tank. My questions are:
Should I replace the tank or should I just fix the one I have? It's really a very small leak. I really don't want to mess with the sand and stuff in the tank.
If I just by new sand would that mess up my cycle?

Any help or recommendations much appreciated.

I did go ahead and order a Sicce Syncra 1.0 Aquarium Pump, 251gph to upgrade from the stock pump.

Looking to order the AI Prime HD net. Just haven't pulled the trigger yet.

Just a little update.

Found a little leak in my Fluval tank. Saltwateraquariums.com sent me a replacement.

I took this time to upgrade the pump with a Syncra 1.0.

I also put a wood air stone next to it so i can try the microbubble scrubbing.

Everything is up and running great.

Ill get a picture tonight when i run the air pump.

Personally you should have waited a week or two to get fish to let the tank go through it's cycle and is that coral on the sand?

I gave it a few days. Used the old water with a mix of new water. The fish are from my tank that had a leak. They have been in the tank for like a month.

Coral are in the sand till i get a chance to cut the plugs and put them on the rocks.

Ok that makes a lot more since I was thinking who in the hell buys a fish right after they just got this new tank[emoji23]

Does Petco sell the tank for the sane price as Drs Foster & Smith? I know they merged, but when I bought that tank, Drs Foster & Smith was cheaper, plus they have coupons that lower the price.

But it's a good quality tank. When you get your new one, check the glass at the bottom corners in the filterration area. I had 2 tanks with stress cracks back there in the same spot from things being stacked on it. It wasn't until I personally asked my UPS guy to not stack stuff on top of it in his truck that it came unbroken. He said he wouldn't stack, but couldn't guarantee the tractor trailers would do that. But it arrived good once I mentioned that to him.

Good luck! Do you have all of your mods picked out for corals? There's a guy that makes custom lids for it that fit great if you're using a different light, like an AI Prime or something similar.

Yea no petco is so much worse don't buy from them they don't know how to take care of fish and they have crap for filtration
