I've had them for more than a year now... I'm glad that they did okay during the different moves... I've only sold probably 3 small frags and traded another 3-5 frags...

You have some? I never seen them anywhere else. I have seen them in blue but not purple. Mine started as blue and turn a deep purple, about the same color purple as Purple Death Palys.
Let me know when you are wanting to trade a frag of the ones that you have. I would like to see if the blue morphs to purple.
I think they look great but I cant get them to grow fast at all. How is your luck with growing them?

On your purple hornets do the skirts alternate with one solid purple and then one solid yellow?

No, the skirts are all yellow. The picture below is of the colony that I have.

I guess they are deep blue / purple... mine looks exactly like your colony when they're fully colored up... after I transferred them in the 28g, they lost a bit of color but they are slowly gaining it back... I currently have about 15-20 polyps on one rock and another 8-10 polyps I'm growing out... and a back up frag I gave to Junior that has about 6-8 polyps...

The skirts on those are different than the ones I posted. Mine have solid yellow and solid purple skirts. Also I originally got mine from MSchriskim 4 years ago. He said they were from a shipment out of Tonga. They're really small. About the size of red wines.

Reefer - going off the skirts it looks like they are different than the hornets. Are yours a Carribean?

but in reefers pic the skirts are alternating between yellow and purple, its just that the purple is facing downward so you dont see it as well
there is a tiny yellow tip on the purple and it looks like the tips of the yellow skirts are purple

The skirts on mine were not developed in color at all to what i thought they were going to be under my T5's. I had them for a 2 weeks and didn't have a chance to color them up..

Maybe they are altering? I cant really tell by the picture, I will have to take a close look at the colony. But, as you can see with the picture that I posted and the picture that Jabber posted, the color is much different than the Lemon Drops. Its a close pattern on the zoas but the colors on the Purple Hornets are much more intense.

I'm not really sure where I got mine from... they might've...

all I know is I've had them for more than a year... when they are bothered they lose a little bit of their coloration... normally, it takes around a month to get them to fully colored up... regardless, they are awesome in their own uniqueness... I think the first I saw these were 2 or 3 years ago... I think Rev had them before....

there was also a few frags from my batch that were sold from cherrycorals.com... there might've been 5 or so frags I let go last December and a few more early this year...

Jarrod, those are looking really good... wait til they grow into a nice colony of 20-25 polyps... they are not the best growers... I remember my 3-4 polyps frags were that for a few months but when they do sprout, at least 3-5 polyps at a time...

I will stick with ricordea. You can not kill the stuff. I just got a 13 polyp blue colony from divers den that will knock your socks off. It was kind of pricey but worth every penny. My wife will be mad for a week or so, but still worth it. I tried to put on a pic with no luck. I do have some zoa, but the only ones I can keep alive are the common ones.

WOW! Those purple hornets are amazing!!! Is anyone selling or know of someone that is?!? I have never see anything like it. And I was impressed with the purple deaths and nuke greens I got. They don't even compare.

I sell them on eBay as they grow out. But, I only sell one polyp at a time, they grow slow for me.

the last two frags I let go is for a local back up and for a local trade for my new Vortech MP40... very good trade baits...

I have a mini colony of about 18-20 polyps and another frag I'm growing out that has about 9 polyps... I normally include them in frags packs when I decide to sell them...
