I bet. I'm on a buying spree of interesting soft corals but so far I've not turned up anything I like. I've got several rocks that need something that will cover, climb, and sprawl ranging from low light to medium. Xenia and Kenya trees are already making work but looking for some other stuff that isn't zooa's. A large mushroom and cabbage coral would be good for spread.

I like your tank btw - it was a fun thread to re-read.

do you got a build thread?

do you got a build thread?

No, I do not. I'm more of a stalker :) Just kidding. I do not have anything exciting at the moment if truth be told.

About this same time last year I started a upgrade from a 40 breeder to a 210 gallon that I was sitting on for some time. Literally the tank was in my garage for about 18 months :) Judging by how long it sat there is why no build thread - not a lot of updates - lol. In any case the upgrade was rather forced because over the course of say 4 years my son's single rose bubble tip anemone decided it was lonely and we had about 8 in the tank with little room left. Quick setup of the tank, start the cycle, finishes in March 18, lot of work travel, then pick it back up in April after the rock matures a bit and move the 40 into the 210 :)

Anyway I'm about 10 months in and while the anemones are doing ok a few of the LPS I had and even soft corals like Xenia didn't like the change. Size, lighting, new rock (dry pukani), not sure what, but it is just now starting to take off with Xenia finally happy. I'll probably start a thread here once I get a bit more into the groove of having something to update. I'm on the forums pretty much every day so could update it - but I don't have an update :)

So I'm a stalker or envious of others work. You all do amazing things so gives me something to work towards.

can we see a sneak peak of the tank?

can we see a sneak peak of the tank?

Sure. 210 gallons. 54" W x 30" T x 30" D. 150 lbs of dry Pukani pressure washed, soaked in bleach for 24 hours, rinsed, another bleach bath for 24 hours, rinsed, then 24 hours in lanthanum chloride, repeat. Moved into the tank in Feb 18 using Dr. Tim's, ammonia fish-less cycle. It completed in March 18 - about 28 days later give or take processing 2 ppm ammonia to 0 in less than 24 hours.

I left it alone (no lights, skimmer, etc) until April. Then turned on lights, skimmer, and sometime in the middle of April moved a 40 breeder into it. Several things started to react and decline so I've just been letting the rock mature more along with the rest of the tank using the Kenya tree and Xenia guide me of its readiness. I think it is just about there. I am going to add a branching Duncan I saw maybe next week if it is still around.

First image is after merging the 40 breeder into the new tank.
Second image is probably last week after taking some lights off line.

By moving the tank too soon the LPS reacted negatively and I'm down to a single frag that is rebounding. Xenia believe it or not almost completely died off. It is now starting to grow daily such that I remove it. Kenya tree is also doing the same and starting to spread more and drop branches. The rose bubble tips are now starting to color up again and expand a bit more. Probably due to a bit of reduced light so watching this one closer. Sea Goldies / Lyretails didn't make it. Lot of fighting between them and not enough coral to break it up. They had sleeping areas but really needed that coral.

Upgrading a tank from 40 to 210 was only one part - I never really factored in that you have to fill it and maturity takes time :) I didn't have enough and even the simplest of things cause trouble like turning on a Maxspect Gyre XF250 at 50% with nothing to break up the flow blowing things all over due to too much flow. It is the little things...nothing much like I said and now I hijacked your thread. My apologies.

Well thank you for the kind words. A soft tank is my desire with only a few lps such as an elegance and possibly a frog spawn. I will have one or two sps but something that grows like a finger/sticks for some damsels to use as refuge although the Corky finger coral I have is doing well and may fit that bill. But yes, soft corals is my goal which is actually how I found your thread :D

So thank you actually for taking the time and sharing :D
