Do you have the qt tanks cycled? You should be fine with media from your established tank along with bottle bacteria. Just be prepared to do large water changes and keep prime on hand. Also seachem ammonia alert is a great monitor
they are cycled. im saying add BB to the main tank, it try to do it every six months.

Well, it could have been much worse and a huge disaster, better off safe than sorry.
true, i noticed the stand beginning to sort of tilt a couple weeks ago but didnt put mind to it. Today there is a gap of about 1/4 in the cabinet. Its crazy. I posted looking for a RSR 250/350 but was in no rush so that it can replace this tank.. but that aint happening. Ill just end up having to build the cabinet. Ill place the order for the fish later this week. I promise :)

How does salt effect stands differently

It’s a heavier hobby than freshwater. Pretty sure it’s heavier water too. Something like 1.5 times heavier. Not including how much live rock we use that’s an extra 50-60 pounds per 100 gallons

Dont we get water displacement with the rocks? A gallon of salt water is only approx .3 pounds heavier. I understand we use sand to but that would further displace water as well.

I'm just confused why a prefabed tank stand would be useless if it wasn't particle board.

I have 2 bags of sand here = 70# and I bet they'd both fit together in the same 5 gallon bucket.
5 gallon of water is 8.6# per gallon x5 gallons = 43#
I bet aquarium with water only is 25% - 35% less weight than an aquarium with water, rock and sand

This is what I think because the tank and stand were level. Now it’s beginning to lean to the right causing the right cabinet door be harder to close and there to be separation between the wall of the left side of the stand and the first cabinet. I’ll just post pics when I get home.

I’ve got 8, 20 pound bags. So 160lbs of sand.

~90 gallons of water at 8.6# per gallon = 774lb

Plus 70lbs or rock. Leaves me at a total of 1004 pounds.

I got 90 gallons because apparently it’s a 90. Not a 65. LFS guy came to see it and told me it’s a 90g. I didn’t count how many gallons went in. I just know it took longer than expected to fill.

Sorry to hear @Musovski but it sounds like you have a plan. Scary stuff though.

I’m just hoping it can hold for about two days without cracking the tank. There’s no way it’s not already getting pressure with a 1/4 inch of tilt.
