Solid pink spikes on coral skeleton

Hi,

This is the dead skeleton of an alveopora. Could anyone help me identify what theses pink spikes are. They are solid to the touch.

+1 your description and picture seem to indicate foraminifera or 'forams'.

Agree on forams and harmless. I longer have it but when i did, loved the effect from lighting. Often confused with cyano
