Some corals closed up after cyano die off

Any time you want to knock back a large mass of cyano, remove as much of the cyano as you can before adding anything (whether its biospira or an e-mycin like ChemiClean).

Take a vinyl hose (no gravel siphon) and suck everything off the rocks. Once the large masses are off, take a toothbrush and use a rubber band or tape to attach it to the hose, with the brush head pointing down in front of the opening of the hose, an inch or so ahead of the opening, and brush and suck the remaining cyano.

Then treat.

Don’t kill it in the tank and try to clean the aftermath. Everything will probably end up being OK, but it’s too much roller-coaster riding for your corals.

Comparing teeth to a reef tank?? Yeah, cant get behind that logic and it's funny that I never had to scrub my rocks in 10 years, weird....

That’s why I never ask to see someone’s home reef as work examples.

The real challenge is running a work thread, where presentations and accumulations vary, artistic ability varies--easier to see the logic after running threads where tanks are not compliant by habit

We share a lot in common with dentistry... those who uninvade other tanks and collect the works

Cancun that is sharp and clean, and the invader was concentrated on the rocks when it was there I noticed. It didn’t seem to cover all areas, was the sand bad or just rocks? It wasn’t on the walls of the tank. Seems to select where detritus collects

*the bac dosed here aren’t toxic
Sludge bac versus chemi clean not the issue.
It’s the reductions they’ve made, the decaying mix of cyano cells, the nutrients they once held which are now lysed into the water etc (everything a rip clean removes)

you need to at least siphon that out. It’s the rot of their targets that need removed, the bac you dosed worked :)

A larger, higher flow reef tank with filters will distribute that waste out overtime but not here, as stated above your pics are a tank tuners normal Tuesday and the flow in there isn’t enough to dislodge rotting particles, you’ll need to help.

Flipper, what alternate action makes the walls of this aquarium back to normal anytime soon?
Very interesting.....I like Boyd products so that is why I used Chemiclean. I of course tried siphoning, large water changes, etc before I first used Chemiclean, but nothing worked. Both times there was a little on top of the sand bed in a few small areas, and on some rocks. Non on the back wall in glass.

OP.....you did get great advice! Keep us posted how this turns out! Don't give up! [emoji16]
Welp the corals are unhappy still, they were better for a day, then unhappy again, back and forth a bit a few times but today they're unhappy again so I'll be doing a water change later. Dinos started maybe a day or two after the original post so I'm rather displeased about that. I hope it'll clear up soon, I'll be doing some more reading later. I nearly caught my fire worm last night... nearly. But at least I saw the little menace.
