Some of my Acro Collection

Been a bit since we've had some pictures!

Love the CRT Toxic Lemonade one!

Not sure if I missed it, but u have a question in regards to your concoction. I believe you said you recommend it on a heavily stocked tank, if that is correct is there a way you would recommend dosing for a not as packed tank? Also, is there a few parts of the concoction that is "mandatory" for good results? I tried to price everything out ans it's quite up there.

I love this!! I’m gonna try it! I have a tank full of acros that need some food :)

Can someone post the recipe for the concoction? It’s been hard to actually find with recommended dosage on this thread. Some add vinegar directly to the concoction??

Outstanding brother!
The levels are seen, and quite complimentary to one another, and I believe I spot some pearly white on presumably, a new growth nodule. The polyps on Merlin are insane, what can I say, beautiful colors and photography ;)

I just went through the entire thread its really interesting and gives lots of good knowledge along the way. Page 79 and

i also would like more info on the mixture/concoction. however, i do believe it is tailored to his specific tank and its needs. would be interesting to see a version for less stocked tanks

For a less stocked system you would just have to dilute the concoction. It’s hard to prescribe any specific dosing amount since everyone’s system will consume things at a different rate.

Using the concoction in conjunction with my normal husbandry has led to pretty solid results as I am now able to meet the coral’s nutritional needs.

The concepts remain the same in a low or heavily stocked system. You’ll just have to experiment on your own and see what the ratio of ingredients are for your use case. You’re aiming to meet optimize the coral’s nutritional needs. Photosynthesis alone can only get you so far.
Follow my exact recipe can get pretty pricey, that’s why I tell people to do their research and develop the foundational knowledge required before they go down this path. Otherwise you’ll just end up frustrated and tons of unused product.
I broke down the core components a few pages back, you need : bacteria, coral food, carbon sources and enzymes

I posted the full recipe a few pages back.
Recipe
Dosage will ultimately depend on your system’s coral biomass, I’d recommend using half the prescribed dose of each product and work your way from there.
You’ll have to continually monitor your parameters to see how your system reacts. It’s very cool to see how the dynamics work in a closed reef environment!

You can add vinegar, as a substitute for some of the other products. Other products I use contain acetic acid. Vinegar is also a commonly used carbon source!

I have been dosing a little under 1/2 the amount for 2 weeks…. So far my nutrients have remained stable if anything i have seen a slight drop in phosphate testing am and pm. I have noticed better polyp extension but i have also started adding some minor trace elements via ICP results bi-weekly and dosing recommendations from Reef Blueprint/Captiv8. My beach bum colors where faded but in the past week have done a 180. I was very nervous dumping the soup in my tank but haven’t seen any ill effects. Interested to see ICP i will send out next week.

That toxic lemonade is fire! I def need to get a piece of that!

Having trouble getting ahold of zeozym. Anyone know if an alternative product?

Same here, called BRS and if I'm not mistaking they told me they should have it again within a few mop nonis
Yes i had same problem there isn’t anything i found that was similar as but they also don’t list indgredients. But Aqua Lab Aquaria was amazing to work with just the fed x international shipping isn’t cheap but i searched forever:) oh and i am seeing amazing results after first week but also doing trace via icp and adativ8

They have one listed on ebay that ships from Germany that doesn't have a *horrible* price. The seller has good reviews so took a chance on it last night and just used paypal in case it doesn't come I can just make a dispute.

Just for clarification, everyone is making just enough for one-two doses? And it can only store for about 3-4 days?

Has anyone tried refrigeration?

The concoction is comprised of
  • Bacteria
  • Particulate Food
  • Carbon Source
  • Trace Elements
  • Zeozym
You can choose any product to fulfill those requirements. I have found some to be more useful than others, but the recipe does vary due to seasonality and what I have available on hand. The effects aren't too varied as long as you have at least the 5 components I listed. You may have different reactions depending on the dosage of each product, but that should be best left to individual to decide for their system. They should monitor their N and P to see that there is adequate nutrient cycling and that Nitrate does not remain elevated for prolonged periods in time.

I have not added in Calcium carbonate, but from my understanding it is nothing more than an inert powder that serves as way to transport bacteria. It is used to dust surfaces. The zeozym and some of the particulates do not completely dissolve so I feel that there is less of an incentive to use Calcium carbonate. However, if you do decide to add it in, let me know how it goes.

Zeozym acts like an enzyme, I don't think its an antibiotic and it definitely does expedite the processing of decaying matter. If you make the concoction, put in the zeozym last. When you finally put in the zeozym is when you'll really notice a chemical reaction take place. Due to this, it will also bring down the PH in the mixing vessel. With the amount of zeozym I use in my mix, the concoction has a PH of around 5.
When dosing into the tank I have sprayed it directly over corals, but to ere on the side of caution I would avoid direct contact, and to broadcast feed in front of a powerhead.

I've fed the concoction during all parts of the day, no need to limit yourself to a specific time. Eventually you can train your corals to feed at any point of the day. However, when you're first starting to use the concoction I would recommend you to dose at night. That way the corals are optimized for prey capture.

No PNS Pro Bio yet, but definitely interested in the product!
I’ve followed Sunny x footsteps with the calcium carbonate but modified it! I use calcium carbonate with ro water and mix in a whole concoction of stuff and I’m seeing crazy results! I also have zeolites in a reactor along side dosing bacto balance on a doser daily.

What do you believe those components are doing?

Makes a great food source for my acros to feed upon! A few minutes after dosing all their filaments come out as they feed in the snow storm.

Sorry, I meant more specifically.

Of the collection of Zeo products displayed in your photo, I was asking what function role you believed they were having. My language was and is vague because obviously Zeo is vague in its description of contents, for example Zeozyme and Biomate are similar functionally in that they are supposed to aid in the reduction of mulm and sludge.

My intention here is to understand what product is accomplishing what, to avoid throwing the kitchen sink at it with half the contents being the same crockery.
