Something is VERY wrong with my fish

@Breakthecycle2 You need to determine with some degree of certainty what disease you are dealing with here. To know what the treatment options are.

I do not know. I am back and forth between Ich and Velvet...although Im fairly certain it's both. Diamond goby has big spots, others when showing, have small sand like granules on them. Others look washed out.

I just did that. They dart into the rocks and I can't find them.

I remove all rocks in to rubbermade bins. I examine each crevice and remove fish that way. It's definitely a pain if you have fish that inhabit rocks!

If the rock is small enough you could always put it in your qt depending on size. Will absorb a little meds but if you know a fish is in it.. It's probably cheaper to get another rock than it is to get another fish

yes do this! desperate times = desperate measures. and really that's not all that bad... to lose a rock instead of a fish

This is one of those heartbreaking threads. Chances increase dramatically of crashing your tank when you break it down

I did hypo in my DT while it was fallow, but I was not 100% what was going on. Seemed like Velvet, but not the "dusting" that you usually see. I figured it could not hurt.

I agree with losing rock if it comes down to that. Maybe put the rock in a container until the fish comes out? Might be a long waiting game though.

Velvet trophonts (and the correlating dots) are much smaller than ich. They range in size from 10-80 micrometers in diameter. They are also perfectly round. Ich trophonts are more oval shaped and range in size from 48 x 27 to 452 x 360 micrometers. Both start off small but then grow in size before dropping off. Ich looks more like salt or sugar sprinkles, whereas velvet looks more like a fine dust. This dust may look gold colored if viewed at the right angle and under the right spectrum of light. Ich is always white.

With velvet, key behavioral symptoms will often prelude visible ones. A fish with velvet may breathe heavy, seek relief by swimming into the flow of a powerhead and act reclusive (velvet makes them sensitive to light). You normally won't see any of that with ich, unless it is a heavy infestation.

When I had to catch my fish I cleared one corner of the tank and used a piece of acrylic once I chased them in the corner I'd block it off with the acrylic to catch them. It's a pain but I had to qaurantine them

As I said, I do not know what it is. For example, last night, one wrasse had fine spots. Today nothing. No so much as a color out of place. Put 9 fish in QT, three died after seemingly being fine. One died in the DT, but looked really washed out. My tang for example, had white spots that were kind of bigger on the dorsal fins, fine spots around the mouth and head and cloudy eyes. My diamond goby looks like it was dipped in salt. Another wrasse looks like fine spots on the top, white and small. Others have nothing. QT seems to be stressing them out more then keeping them in the tank. I don't know what to do anymore. I know Im not the only one who has encountered this. I've had ICH before. It's killed maybe 2-3 fish, but the rest were all fine. Even when I added new ones. Nothing ever happened to them..nothing. I've narrowed it down to one place where I could have gotten it from out of three. One one a local store that I just bought one frag from. I should have known better. The other two were Reefwise and Hotreef. I was talking to someone today that Hotreef has been "known" to have diseased animals. No idea how true it is. As I also stated previously, I was told from a popular figure in this hobby to Hypo my tank to get rid of it once and for all. Velvet, ICH, whatever. You guys on here are saying Hypo won't work with velvet. My LFS says you normally don't see spots with Velvet, its more of a cloudy body. Not sure how true that it is, yet I've trusted them for years now. You guys on here say differently. I am so lost. I feel I've wasted way too much time and now here I am with $1500 in dead fish so far and no closer to knowing what to do then I did 5 days ago. It is not any advice on here nor I am bashing anyone as I appreciate all of the postings. I am just beyond frustrated that I feel like breaking everything down and selling it all. This tank has only been up for 4 months now and the first time in three years in this saltwater hobby I feel like giving up.

Why not move your remaining fish to qt and hypo? See if it works, if so hypo the display
