I hate this, where did you get it from? If you can't verify linage how can you call it a soprano? Something that is most likely lost in the hobby. Let alone having a three polyp frag and what looks like to be a second frag in the back.

sometimes miracles do happen. there are some people out there that do have them, just like armageddons. they just keep their mouths shut about it.

If you are hiding something like that why would you ask? If you asking for a ID how can you call it a true soprano? To ask that means either two things " Hey i found a paly that looks like it at my LFS" or "I found some one selling them cheap called sopranos are they real?" That is not linage. With named corals like that without any true linage how can you call it that?

I have plenty of stuff in my tank I keep my mouth shut about.. Asking is one think, advertising it is another.

he is asking if it is one not calling it one. so if someone has a paly that looks like a utter chaos they cant call it an utter chaos when asking for a confirmation id?

Why would they need to ask if they bought it from a reputable peroson, it looks like or bought it from a vender?

Lets keep it friendly!

Dirt nasty, please give us a better picture, without it,we cant say what they are.

But seriously, lets not try to sell anything here.

m and m, taken to the end of the spectrum, there is no need for a Zoanthid ID Forum. ...unless of course you want to focus on the basics of zoanthid taxonomy. ie is this Z. gigantus?

So you think it's fine to say i got this wild colony it looks like a flame thrower is it?

Fine i will retract my negativity above. How about this, We need better pictures to confirm but from what you supplied i would say no. Also where did you get them from that would help alot to.

Linage sminage lol.... I never even heard of linage untill about a year ago... There is people all over Vegas with corals and yes even flamethowers and they couldn't tell ya the linage... I think that whole era is over personally...just my 2

Agreed.

I also question the point of the Zoa ID forum, seems like it only causes issues.

lineage only matters to people who want to make a buck on corals, i dont give a crap about where it came from b/c all my corals come from
A. Australia
B. Indonesia
C. Tonga
D. Bali

1smile1 If a piece looks exactly like a "lineaged piece" and I can get it for half the price I'm saving my money and buying the cheaper piece. Too many people hung up on names and lineage IMO. But then again I don't sell my frags, I exchange them with my LFS for dry goods or trade with other peeps. Anyway, back to the topic at hand, that pic is really hard to tell what it might be, Soprano or not.

...or spent a buck on a coral!

I think zoanthid ID forums have their place in this hobby. Not just from a polyp pusher perspective either. Amongst zoa freaks it's a bit easier to say what I'd like to trade for or what I have with a name. It just seems to me that the polyp people get criticized more often for playing the name game although other (lesser?) coral collectors (SPS, LPS, etc.) have pushed the game to absurd limits. JK

There may be instances where there is a one of a kind coral that belongs on a podium but I can't imagine that there could not be other "sopranos" collected, imported and distributed -- or was it truly the last bunch of polyps with those markings that came in two or three years ago? I think not.

If I am going to ask for an ID, I'd produce a photo with a shot of the face in good light rather than an oblique perspective.

I know but it's like I just bought a jawbreaker shroom... I never even questioned the linage so when I pass it on I can't tell the next what it is either... I can tell you who I purchased it from but that's it... I'm sure he has the linage but I really don't care lol..., when it goes for sale they will just have to take my word...;) I don't even have the slightest clue where that piece originated....
