Spider looking with octopus legs ID please

Wow! Lol step away for internet for a date night with wifey and all these replies.

um, can’t put back In tank kinda dead. It didn’t float, swim, or anything other than walk on the sand and try to get away from me like a spider on land. I looked as close as possible and had to untwist legs to what looked correct while using iPhone to zoom in. Yes, iPhone. I ordered a microscope with camera lastnight as well because those are best pics possible as of now. Brittle star fish I believe is out because of the 6 legs. I looked at hundreds of pics of star fish and never saw any with six legs. Up close after taking pic and zooming on phone it really has shape, body and legs of octopus...... but standing in tank it looked like a daddy long legs spider or equivalent in water. Someone asked live rock???? Yes. Lots. About 175lbs in 180 tank. All kinds shapes and locals. All been in tank almost 11 months. Nothing what so ever exdept blue velvet nudi to eat some red flat worms and a leapard wrasse added to tank in over 3 months. Both drip method, put in qt, then added next day. Viewed and highly inspected for any parasites and pests. Unless one of them threw it up....... naw. Lol I’ve been looking all morning for another in tank if I find will video and leave in place for now. Thank you for input and possible help. When I get microscope I’ll try to scrape this thing in tact off this specimen lid and get better pics.

That would be sad if it were an octo (maybe with two missing legs). Octopus do “walk” on the sand - I’ve seen it while diving and there are surely tons of videos on YouTube

I'm definitely thinking a species of sea spider at this point. It had to have come in on all that live rock then.

That coloration is spot on in the pic.

no, live rock has been in tank over a year. Only thing new is a blue velvet nudibranch and a leapard wrasse. Those were added two days ago.

Agree. No suction cups on the sea spider. OP’s last pic clearly shows suction cups and can count 7 legs and with a little imagination see an eighth leg tucked underneath.

Also little hooks at the end of the sea spiders legs. No little hooks on the legs of the OP’s pics.

One leg might have gotten lost in the capture. Lol I just ordered good photo microscope per post here. If I find another I’ll get the pics.
