I have the same ones and they grow mostly in the shaded areas.

lol Sometimes I target feed my yellow sponges. Folks spending hundreds of $$$ on yellow corals .... pfffft

Nope I am sorry. I just know they are pretty and never cause an issue. Hoping someone does know the species and chimes in. Would be cool to know.

It's sponge. There are over 7000 species of sponge. it's all but impossible to correctly identify these animals, even those who study them for a living have a difficult time.

My sponges like this always prefer the darker parts of the tank. I love them.
